Rear View Mirror and Homelink

Need help with my Homelink. I just installed a new Chamberlain MYQ door opener with roaming code. I'm following the directions to a "T", for both the opener and the homelink. I can't get it to work. Does anybody have any pointers on this? The steps I'm taking are: 1) pressing both the button on the remote and mirror at the same time waiting for the blinking light. 2) pressing the "learn" button on the opener and 3) pressing the button on the mirror 3 times. These are the instructions posted both in the Mini manual and the Chamerlain website. I'm confused and frustrated. Please help. Thanks.

I didn't order the Homelink on my MCS because I had a 335i for three years with Homelink and was never able to get it to work with my roaming code opener. I followed the directions exactly like you're doing. Eventually I gave up and clipped the garage door opener transmitter to the visor. Just just moved the same transmitter over to my MCS. I wish you luck!

There's instructions on there. One problem many people have had (including me) is that you need to follow the instructions from the beginning, and follow them exactly. Many people know they have a rolling code opener, so just skip to the rolling code section, but there is a critical step near the beginning, that is *not* listed in the rolling code section. So, don't skip ahead, start at the beginning, and don't go to the rolling code section until it tells you too.

Best of luck to you. I did exactly what you're doing with my 335 and I never was able to get it to work. As I said below, I ended up giving up on the Homelink and clipped a remote to my visor - worked like a charm and it's still working in my MCS.

What most people overlook is to push the "memory" button on their garage door motor.

Yep. On my Chamberlain, (I've got 3 of them...lol), I first set up the home link.

Clear the memory out.
Program each button as per the instructions. I do this away from the garage so the doors aren't all going up and down...

Then put the car in front of the garage

Get out a ladder and one at a time I press the "Learn " button on the opener. You have about 30 seconds to get down, run to the car and press the Homelink button for that door.

Even easier would be to have two people, but my wife avoids the garage man cave at all costs... (actually good for me...lol)

Repeat with any other doors.

I even installed a E39(?) Homelink/autodim mirror in my E36 M3 and it works fine too...
