Turning off the engine sound- Normal?
Coming home or arriving to work, if I don't have the music blarring, a second after I hit the "Engine on/off" button, as the engine is coming to a stop, it makes a sound as if I squished a rodent underneath my shoe.
Wondering if that's normal.

Mine sometimes makes a quick squeak noise from the engine bay when the engine is turned off. I imaging a squished rodent might make that sound. Started over the xmas holidays but no idea what it is yet.
Was going to have it checked when I was getting timing chain noises but those noises went back to normal so it will wait.

Have you had somebody shut off the engine while you poke your head around the engine bay to isolate rough location? I think mine is on the passenger side... will have to remember to ask my spouse for help later.

Well, it's not normal. If, standing in front of the car, the squeak is coming from left hand side down where the serpentine belt is, that's your waterpump. Probably the bearing is wearing out.
You may or may not be able to hear it when the car is idling after running it up to temperature. In this case it would sound like a "deep deep deeeeep deeep dep ddeeep".
Blimping the throttle would made it temporarily disappear.
Unfortunately, it's a bit of an expensive repair mainly due to labour costs.

And now it starts
It finally started to make the noise consistantly now. Here's the recording of it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I had the same issue, exact same noise. In the video I hear it before you shut the engine down. That's your water pump. Hope you're still under warranty, it's an expensive repair. They should fit you with a new water pump and auxiliary belt tensioner.
It's actually a "common" issue. The impeller is plastic and the bearing wears out.

With 14550 miles on it, that's kinda sad. I'm at the dealership now, hanging out and see what they say. Played the video clip for the service consultant, he thought it was a strange noise. Let's hope the noise sticks around for the service dudes hear it and not come back and say , "can't reproduce the sound"
How much would that suck.
Keep you guys posted.

Yeah mine too
Edit: crap, I hope my water pump is ok, I have 14k miles on the clock too. How can a water pump wear out at this low mileage?

Two words: plastic bearing.
For the record, mine went early too...

The service ppl said it's not at a point to fix. They said if the noise get louder than it is, to bring it back in.
Eh. When I got home from the dealership and turned off the car, it didn't make the noise. I'm going on 5/5.
At least they washed my car.
