When I See Dirty MCs
[QUOTE=gixxerjasen;3429010]Dang if Yellow doesn't show every kind of dirt.QUOTE]
We had an Amarillo series F-250 and I had a yellow Thunderbird convertible. I'll 2nd that...and add that for some reason bugs swarmed both those vehicles.
+1 There's an obvious difference between "motoring and enjoying" your MINI and neglecting it. I drive my car every single day and it's never had mold growing on it nor have I had to use any kind of acid wash to get the brake-dust off the wheels. That's just nasty...

I had to expand our driveway to make room for our 3 Minis, in the process I removed a hedge that blocked the neighbors sprinklers.
Now every other day I have to wash off the water spots. We rotate weekly who gets that spot now...
I just hate driving my Mini all spotted up!

There's a difference between dirty from motoring and neglect. Dirty from motoring, woo hoo. Neglect...I always think "Poor MINI".
Earlier this week, drove alongside a 2008 (?) cooper hardtop. Absolutely filthy. Like mildew growing on the Pepper white paint it hadn't been washed in so long. A fist sized dent on the drivers quarter panel that was allowed to rust. And a months worth of mail and newspapers on the cargo cover. The portly driver was too engrossed in her cigarette and starbucks to notice my look of shock.

Now, on the flip side, there's cleaning and there's obsessive/compulsive cleaning.
Interesting topic....
My brother is the messiest person in the world. He pretty much never washes his car. He currently drives an old Camry. Before that he drove a MDX. He's pretty much been like this since he owned a car. The inside of his car smells. I refuse to get into his car. The funny thing is that he puts these large shower towels on the car seats. I'm like: what's the point??

Me on the other hand like to keep my cars clean. Even my old '99 Tacoma which gets parked outside. Granted that I live in the SF Bay Area where we don't get snow or anything crazy, but it does get dirty. For some reason, I get irritated when my cars are dirty so I go out to wash it...go figure. I think I have OCD.

Mine is brand new, and at the moment it is dirty as heck.
That said, I have a full time job that pays me, and I run a nonprofit to help people who are disabled learn to play video games (http://www.ablegamers.org) that takes another 35 to 50 hours a week (NO PAY). Oh, and to get to my paying job everyday is a 50 mile drive one way...
so I say all that to say, as much as I LOVE MY CAR, I am on the inside, not running along side of it, so I add it to the list and get to it when I have an hour to enjoy it, but I can only see a little of the dirt from where I sit.

Yep, I'm in Pittsburgh, too. After a week of light snow and salt, it's time for a bath today. Hello 50 degree weather and a clean car! :-)
Any recommendations for a good place to get a bath? I live out of a hotel for my job, which is why I'm in Pitt and have no clue where to go. I'm in the Robinson/Corapolis area if you know of any.
Hey essaybrah...I'm in the PNW too, I DO appreciate my MINI...so I don't wash it religously in the Winter...what's the point??!!
She gets hosed off at the Local DIY Car Wash, not my preference though. Where in the PNW are you where it is warm enough to wash your MINI every week??
Griot's Garage Spray on Car Wash is my Winter Cleaning Tool!!

I am in Seattle. It does suck, because after 2-3 days of driving in the rain and puddles my MINI gets filthy. It isn't that much warmer for me.
I just take it to the DIY bay once every 7-10 days and usually wash it at night when its like 35 degrees(srs).
This is the first car I've ever purchased, so like a first love, I am willing to do a lot of unusual things for it:D
Man, you'd be silly angry looking at my wheels!
I used to stess over keeping the car perfectly clean all the time.
But I have better things to do with my time. So I just run it through the cheapest car wash in town once in a while.

Yes, retired life is great!
Can't imagine anything being better than cleaning and shining my MINI on a beautiful Colorado day. Rain, shine, sleet or snow, Minikins is always lookin good and knows it.

We keep our cars clean. Even in the winter. And lets face it, it does not get that cold here so there is no excuse. I just think it is LAZY people. It's a breeze to wash the car when it's 40. Heck that is summer weather compared to a other parts of the country.
Weird.
I drive my car to work five days a week and for fun on the weekends. It gets dirty. I do like to wash it once a week in the summer, but when it's rainy all the time, keeping the hatch clean is an exercise in futility. The interior is immaculate. My car stays totally empty except for the change cup (cloaked in carbon fiber wrap.) and a few things tucked in the glove box. The exterior, however, is usually grimy in the wet/cold months. It's just not worth heading down to the DIY spray wash and spending six bucks in change to have it look nice for ten minutes.
My car is dusty now...but it hasn't really been dirty yet. I've washed it 3x. I'm loving this snowless New England winter; (now I just jinxed myself. Get ready for the blizzard.)
I agree that dirty might just mean "good motoring" but I'm still OCD about having a clean car.

I may be bordering on the obsessive/compulsive! Not just because its a new car, Im that way with all my vehicles, but a spray with quick detail and a wipe down doesnt take very long at all with Bazzle!
When I was job hunting two years ago after I first got Bonnie, I kept her pristine. Now I'm in graduate school and I have to park her outside 24/7 so she only gets washed when I have the time and money to take her to a drive-thru, which is basically once a month if she's lucky. It's supposed to pour here tomorrow so I'm going to try and get her clean this weekend if the weather behaves.
On Christmas morning, when I got out to my car to move it, I discovered that the local birds had pooped on my Bonnie in about 100 different places. It was 37 degrees outside but I still went and grabbed some wet paper towels to get all of the bird crap off of the paint before it could really etch it. I miss having a garage.
