Tint advice: same all around or lighter in front (mix/match)?
Tint advice: same all around or lighter in front (mix/match)?
Sorry for another tint question, but I'm getting my MINI tinted and would like to see any photos of MINIs that have lighter tint for the front windows and darker for the back (yeah, I know, the panel van look). In NJ, really any additional tint on the front windows is illegal, but I won't be going too dark and there are way too many cars out there with dark tint that are driving around to be concerned. (We also stopped MV inspections recently).
I'm thinking either 35% in the rear three windows and 50% in the front or 35% all around. I'm not really concerned with heat rejection as I am with glare from ridiculous lights in my mirrors and a little privacy.
Thanks much!

I also think 35% all around would be a good look without being too dark.
I was also glad to see that your choices were between 35/35 and 35/50. I see a lot of people whose idea of "going light" is only using a single layer of 5% in the front rather than two layers!

I am leaning heavily toward 35 all around. Part of me is toying with the notion of going really dark on the hatch window. Too many trucks and HID-in-halogen drivers around me and I'm blinded in the rear when driving at night.
Of course, this is where the auto-dimming mirror (which I don't have) would be beneficial. Even so, the side mirrors don't dim and sometimes those are even worse as they're closer to the ground and more in the line-of-light from the blinders.
Hey, does anyone ever tint their mirrors?
I had an Audi TT a few years ago and that had all three auto-dimming mirrors.

I went with the minimum state legal here in Florida which is 15% in the back and 35% up front(+/- 3%). I also choose to get ceramic tint which I think is the way to go on everything because looks incredible.
the minimum VLT on the front windows is 28% in Florida, which is why i went with 30%
While I was waiting in the shop a customer called who just had 25% done all around last week and she got ticketed (in my town) and was making an appointment to get the fronts removed
. In NJ, you can't have anything on the driver/passenger windows (technically/legally). Not sure if tint is a primary offense or they just ticket when you get stopped for something else and they just want to d*ck with you.Out of the sun or with the sunshades closed, it looks A LOT darker, but much better than factory. I went with 3M Color Stable.
Here's a quick and dirty cell phone shot...
Hmmm they must have darkened the front since I got mine done 2 years ago.
