Hi, just got your message. Yes I have an Elise, a Caterham 7 and an Elan. Been involved with Lotus most of my life.

Be happy to help you all I can in your quest for an Elise. I would get a 2005 model...about 25K and put on the Kantana SC. That is what I have and I love it.

Funny to read the comments from others that really just do not know.

I have close to 25K on my car with the SC installed. Never a problem. Drives great and absolutly nothing has ever gone wrong with it. In fact, I have close to 36K miles on the original brake pads and I do drive the car ***** out.

A Caterham too? Did you build it yourself?

I think I will end up with an '05 to save some money on the purchase price and put more into modding it. I've been looking more at the VisionFunction S/C kit. I like the thought of it being intercooled and more power is never a bad thing! I'm not so much worried about engine/drivetrain problems since the engine has always been pretty much bulletproof. I mostly think about Lotus supplied parts, all the trim/body work, suspension, etc falling apart. The one I drove had over 60,000 miles without a single problem.
