Gotta READ the post before you call yourself stating facts.
1) I took FB for Fox Body. Apparently not up on my acronyms.
2) Forbes
Ford didn’t file bankruptcy or get bailed out by Uncle Sam, but did receive $5.9 billion in low-cost government loans
3)What started has MINI vs Stang turned into Ford vs. BMW

Yep, I've read all the car magazines and speed's test car episode about the 2012 5.0 being able to skate real nice around dem dare turns and full of grace and what not. I was just generalizing about Fox Body to last years 4.6's handling characteristics.

I have always been an import kinda guy but I love old classic cars and muscle cars as well. I went from a 97 honda EK hatch with 8k in mods to a 2000 ford mustang GT. I dumped 3k in the mustang but it just wasnt my cup of tea. It was still slow and clunky in the turns. Burnouts were always fun until I had to buy tires lol. The solid axle is prehistoric and needs to go, I hated driving down the road and hitting a bump and it felt like the whole back end would jump around. I traded the mustang in for an 05 mini S which brought me here. I have respect for all of the car cultures because thats what there into.

Will have both 5.0 GT and Mini S in garage

Interesting post. I have a 2012 Mustang GT and it is a fantastic street car. I also have a 2012 MINI Cooper S Cab on order. They are both different cars. While I love the 412 HP in the Mustang and it does corner much different then Mustangs of the past as evidenced by recent comparisons with the M3. It is however, much different then the MINI in feel. They are indeed apples and oranges. While the track performance will not compare, the MINI is indeed fun to drive. The handling feel is better in the MINI. This could be changed with aftermarket suspension but I am comparing stock to stock. However, I do like my super sticky P-Zero summer tires compared to MINI's run flats. I think there is room for both cars as evidenced by my buying a MINI as well. I find it amusing how different owners refuse to see the attributes of others' vehicles. We all have different needs and wants. That does not mean that one car is better then the other.

Hey, Thank you!

Mini's are great as well as Mustangs are great. I own both. You really can't compare the two.

You will definitely see more mullets in the Mustang community... but then again there is nothing wrong with that (Ask Joe Dirt).

It's in our competitive car spirit that we strive to own the best, hence, a lot of talking smack.

Agree to disagree!

Valvashon,
I know, I should not respond to this sort of preconceived bigotry as it has no fact or basis as does racial bigotry. Achilles honor was right. It is going nowhere or perhaps down to a place most do not want to go. As far as I am concerned, this thread is over.........

As always it depends on the driver. I was passing a Laguna Seca edition Mustang today, at Laguna Seca. I was only driving the JustaCooper.

The latest Mustangs do seem like a much better breed according to the reviews (and lap times), but I just couldn't imagine owning a Mustang.

Absolutely. Even in DRAG racing the driver plays a huge part, so even more so on the road course.

My comment was assuming similar levels of competency behind the wheel. Take Car and Driver's "Lightning Lap" test they do every year, for example. The best MINI they've ever tested, an R56 JCW Hardtop, had a fastest lap of 3:17. Even the '11 *V6* Mustang did a 3:12, and the 5.0 GT did 3:08... and that's not the Boss 302 or the Boss 302 Laguna Seca.

Again, don't get me wrong. I easily could have added a third Mustang to my garage, but went with the MINI instead. I'm just making a point for all the people who think Mustangs are like garbage trucks around a racetrack.

You're absolutely right, though. Driver is worth many, many seconds at an HDPE, and if you're just driving for fun, even several seconds per lap isn't the end of the world.

Sometimes you need to look at the age and experience of people making the statements. When you are young and have only own a few cars you think they are the best and knock everything else. You also tend to think you are a great driver until you get on a track with someone who is 10X better. Having owned close to 40 cars, inlcuding Vettess, mustangs,Porsches and a few very fast Toyota Supra's, I can find good and bad aspects of every car, as you get older you tend to find more of what you like and dont like in a car, and or truck, Your style of driving changes a bit and you look at older and newer cars different. Keeping an open mind and being able to sort though what is BS and what is not about any car will make you smarter and less likley to be one of those A holes who thinks there car what ever it is , is better or faster or nicer then what ever you are driving, just my 2 cents here

I always get a kick out of these threads.. Best thing to do is buy a 03/04 cobra for the fun car and have a r53 mini for a daily. It would end the muscle vs finesse debate. Must haves are also, a pair of ear plugs since you never get away from blower whine. Having a 600/600 car that makes this kind of noise is just straight nasty. This is a old video from svtperformance.com but it is a classic. r53 + terminator = winning lol

Take the money from both and just buy an Ariel Atom. Granted you will have to dodge raindrops but and can't carry anything but isn't that what the wife's suv is for?

Gotta READ the post before you call yourself stating facts.
Technically speaking Ford did not receive bail out money. The below quote Is from Fact Check. Org.

Although Ford did not need money from the $80 billion bailout program, Ford did receive $5.9 billion in government loans in 2009 to retool its manufacturing plants to produce more fuel-efficient cars, and the company lobbied for and benefited from the cash-for-clunkers program — contrary to the ad’s testimonial that Ford is “standing on their own.”

So it really depends on "ones view" Fords own commercials say they did not but this can be construed however u like.

Just thought I would toss that in.

BTW I like all cars. It's the people driving some of them that I dislike.

Pat

I lied I do not like the Fiat!!

Wow that is just hilarious. I can't stop rolling.

I think it may be a true representation in some cases.

Mustangs can't corner, and Minis are a girls car.

Just ask around! A lot people know these to be tried and true facts!

yeah, well, a lot of people couldn't find their *** with both hands and a flashlight.

I'll take my Mustangs AND my MCS, and what the hell, even the Geo Metro I won Land O Lakes region STS class with. (as well as trounced a bunch of Mustangs Vettes and Vipers with on the Hot Rod Power Tour auto cross challenge.) A car does not a douchbag or girly-man make...
