PIAA 540 driving lights

Has anyone installed a set of the PIAA 540 driving lights. I think they are a good alternative to the factory MINI lamps. I am about to buy the kit, @ aprox $180.00 and after market bracket @ $90.00 and install myself. Pros/cons, i am open for suggestions. Thanks

motor12,

I'm looking for some driving lights too. Would you mind posting a link to the kit and brackets that you are talking about?

Thanks...

There is a lot of clever wiring involved to conceal most of the wires to the front lamps and to install the lamps into the headlamp circuit so you can only turn them on when the headlamps are on. Also, seems that the most pain in the but part is installing the button inside of the car, mine is in the center console where the rear fog light switch would have been.

I did not install them on my car, so I only have a visual of how they might have been installed rather than having first had experience.

I really like them though, right now I have them angled outward to the sides of the road so I have more visibility of animals about to dart across the road at night.

Going to install mine on a separate switch so they can be operated without having to have high beams on. I want to run them as daytime driving lamps along with low beams. I try to avoid driving at night if i can but if i do i will have plenty of light...

Mine work with low beams and high beams.

My car ends up looking like a space ship with all my lights are, here's a pic:

If I were you, I'd give serious consideration to true HID driving lamps. Yes, they cost more. But you'll also get a hell of a lot more light for the money. Some great lights here:

Oh, and don't be believing all the junk PIAA says about xx watts = yy watts. It's a bunch of malarky. Read here: http://www.danielsternlighting.com/t...uperwhite.html

(Daniel Stern is the real deal, by the way.)
