Outmotoring Black Tail Lights

http://tinyurl.com/7y8zefy
Has anyone bought these by any chance? I like how it looks, being that I'm not a huge fan of the stock tail lights on MINIs, but I'm afraid it will look "cheap" or something off a 90's honda civic. If you have please post pictures on/off/day/night. Outmotoring.com has a couple pics but it doesn't really show much.

Similarly, there are the black headlights, ive seen on done blackflamecustoms (i think that was the name) or the less expensive, less reliable ebay here (http://tinyurl.com/7576gup). The "super dope" description is really pushing me away from this one.

I have a horizon blue with white top cooper but after plastidipping the **** out of my car, s-grille, 20% tints, black rims in the future the black-white-blue color scheme is working out nicely, just trying to do without the chrome. (and the not so attractive tail lights)

Any comments, pictures, suggestions always appreciated.

I believe I've seen those on a MINI Tumblr blog.

Yep! Here you go:

Somewhere on that page. Second post down

oh awesome, thanks! On the red one it looks good but on the black is almost looks like the white/chrome-ish tail lights also on outmotoring.. Maybe it is. Either way, thanks again, I think this has confirmed I will be getting these in the near future.

Not too sure about the headlights tho, whether its a joey-mod, or purchased.

I'd say go with the blackflamecustoms headlights, he is actually retrofitting true HID units into the OEM housings, I guarantee that it will be of better quality all the way around compared to the eBay headlights. Not to mention, you will wind up with better light output as well.

I'd say save the $200-something that you'd spend on the eBay ones, and put that towards a set that has been retrofitted.

Black tail lights,

Don't do this. Red means you are stopped,
black means you are not. My brother did
this to his pickup, and a woman hit him at 35 mph.
as he waited at a stop light. Please do not do this.

I agree and in a car as small as a MINI you want to be as visible as possible.

Seriously??? The red shows through just fine when brakes are applied and turn signals are activated. As a matter of fact, a block away during the day time they are visible when I turn on/off the alarm.

A year later I still live...

I see this thread was about the LED lights on outmotoring.com. I don't know anything about how bright they are. I was referring to blacking out the tail lights with vinyl . That's not to say they can't be seen, but it only stands to reason that they won't be as bright as if they weren't blacked out. I've seen cars on the road with blacked out tail lights and they are definitely not as bright.

I added a PULSAR so be seen better. With people these days trying to drive over my MINI ever-sop often I too agree to get black taillight and for-go tinting. In Florida the lights need:
--Two red taillights mounted on the rear, visible from 1,000 feet.

--Two red stoplights. They must be seen from 300 feet in the daytime, and must come on when the foot brake is pressed.

Vinyl? How pedestrian. Try custom tinted... Be that as it may, had Outmotoring offered these before I went to the tint shop in the hood, I would have bought them.

Are my smoked side markers acceptable?

Blacked out tail lights are not legal in most states, in Texas you must have red reflective lens to rear. To much rice for me..

Mine are tinted (the side markers). As for the rear taillights... Tried to have the tinted but the curve of the lens just doesn't work.
