Mini Configured /dealer installed options
Mini Configured /dealer installed options
I have probably a dumb question, but here goes. I have configured a 2012 Clubman S and one of the options I selected was the JCW Stage 1 kit. The configurator states this is a dealer installed option. Has anyone ordered this for there 2012 and was it installed by the dealer, or at the POE. I assume if it is the dealer, I would have to pay install charges, while if it was done at the POE, perhaps I would not. Please share any experiences you have had with this option on ordering a new 2012.

I don't have any info. specific to that item...but I just ordered my new Clubbie on Monday, and the three "dealer installed" options I asked about (driving lights, sports stripes, and the bumper protector) were all going to be installed at the port, and the prices online were exclusive of installation costs.
I was intending to get the JCW Sport Suspension on my Justa. My MA told me that the suspension parts would be installed by the dealer, and that the labor would run another $1500 or $1600 on top of the cost of the option shown in the configurator.
I decided to go with the "regular" sport suspension.
So at least some of the JCW options are in fact installed at the dealer and you pay their labor rate on top of the cost of the option.

I have both the JCW tuning kit and JCW suspension on my 2012 hatch. They are both strictly dealer-only installed options, so the labor for install is in addition to the listed price of the parts. Note that the suspension price does not include the red springs, they have to be ordered separately, since they are VIN-matched to your vehicle based on the weight and options on your car.
The tuning kit install guide lists 4 hours as the standard labor time, and the suspension lists 6 hours, since it needs a full alignment after install.
Slave to Felines, the labor price the dealer is quoting you is well over double the standard rate. I can email you the install guide for both kits, it's the same one the dealer uses for installation, and clearly lists the standard install times. I would specifically ask what they are basing their quote on, and they show them the guide.
I paid cash upfront for both of my kits as part of my down payment, in order to avoid financing/paying interest on the install labor. If you have any other questions, let me know. Both kits are beyond amazing!

Thanks for the feedback. I think I will just wait until I get the car and then purchase the kit from Morristown Mini. It saves a few bucks and every one is important.
Thanks again,
