I have test driven the mini and am really sold on it, however, I have averaged 25-30k a year in driving on my current vehicle (owned for 7.5 years now). I am leaning towards getting an automatic and just want to make sure that I am going with a trustworthy drivetrain.
If you have had any transmission work please include in your post. Thanks very much, I cant wait to own one

When I bought this car I had a 22 mile commute. I had to change to a 49 mile
one (one way). I have the justacooper I wanted the turbo when I bought it
also manual, but now I am glad I got what I got. Based on reports from this site
it appears I have the most reliable one. 85k miles now on the 07 with auto.
Only problem a leaking (not too bad but enough to think about ) oil pan gasket, and
an alternator belt that left me stranded which frankly should have been changed
under the maintanence plan I paid so much extra for. (I can not recommend getting this)
If you get auto make sure you get the paddle shifters.
