[Jalopnik] Race a Mini on the streets of anywhere

Even if you never wanted to design an urban racecourse and share it with a network of like-minded urban-racecourse designers, you can still play Mini Maps, Mini's new Google Maps-fed Facebook game. Just putter around Sheboygan, Wisconsin in a chocolate-brown Mini S with a Swiss flag on its roof. That's what I did.

Either way, it's what you'll be doing for the next three hours, so settle in. Actually, it's kind of cool, if a bit poky. But we'd imagine integrating a Flash game into Google Maps and making it even remotely resemble racing a car though the streets of a small U.S. radio market (or anywhere else in the world) isn't easy.

Still, SOCIAL MEDIA!

This looks cool, but I always get the heebies about apps on Facebook that request permission to post to my wall. I never know how easy it'll be to turn that off, and I never like those auto-posts that say something like "Brian has 58 MINI coins. How well can you do?!!?!?"

So I usually just say "whatever" and don't allow the app. Anybody want to reassure me? It sounds fun.

OK, I bit the bullet and added the app. It's very fun. I like that you can customize the car to the same paint, roof, and stripes as your car (assuming you have standard colors and stripes). Fun to see my car speeding down the streets of Paris.

Damn I was hopuing for a street racing thread. Oh well I have enough videogames to play so I won't jump onto Facebook games.
