So I've had my MINI for about a month. Whenever I open the door after the car sitting for a long while there is a sound that comes from the inside of the car, kind of like a buzzer. Does anyone know what this sound is and if it's normal?

 

If you're talking about the noise that sounds like a tiny servo motor running for about three seconds, it's totally normal...but I'm not sure exactly what it is.

 

It's just the sound of the car purring in anticipation on being taken out for some spirited motoring.

 

My '04 does that every now and then - usually after it has been sitting for a while. As far as I can tell, comes from the heating/ac system. I have yet to pinpoint exactly where it comes from as it only does it for a few seconds.
