Do new wheels require new TPMS sensors - or can the old ones be used?

Yes, you can use the old ones. Plus, BMW/MINI changed the TPMS modules in October 2009 (on the 2010+ models), so using the old ones is a must if you
want the TPMS system to function as intended.

The wheel speed sensors detected a difference is speed by looking at the revolutions and compared them up until 2007. 2007 and on they came with actual pressure sensors.
