The unfortunate

This last thursday I was in a car accident. A rough quoted estimate from the repair shop said costs would be about $7,500 for front end damage.

I do have insurance and a adjuster is coming tomorrow to look at the car. The mechanic said that he believes it is "fixable" but I'll be up a creek if insurance deams it to be totalled.

Has anyone had similiar experiences?

I can't afford for my insurance to deam it totalled; what do you think my options are?

Hard to comment, have no idea what you're driving or what's it's worth.
Insurance will total a car if repairs exceed 70-75 %. Possible hidden damage, not seen until a teardown at the shop.

Link works for me.

But, as mentioned, pictures of the damage would really help.

Oh thats $7k+ damage right there. I had a small fender bender and it cost $3.5k to get it fixed.
Just an idea of what my damage looked like. And I doubt it will be totaled. It has to cost more to fix it then it is worth or there is some serious unseen body damage. But not to get you down if that happens see if you can part some of it out. Just saying. Hope everything works out.

I've a friend whose daughter's car was totalled. He took the settlement, bought the car at salvage price, and fixed it.

Dunno if that works in your neck of the woods.

Cheers,

Charlie
