Getting more and more disappointed.

So, apparently my MA didn't tell me everything that was different for 2012 before she placed my order. There are two things I would have loved to have that are new for 2012, the compass in the mirror and the instrument panel covered in leather. Then I find out that because I ordered an automatic, I'm not going to get the red stitching on my e-brake and gear shifter. Then I find out the trim around the grill is going to be chrome instead of black like the configuration showed me. Ugh. So disappointed. I hope I can order this stuff through the parts department at a reasonable price. Sad day. I should be picking my Mini up here in less than a week and I hope there are no more surprises.

Rant over. Lol.

Yep get it from the parts department. Should not cost you too much. Or when the car comes in ask the dealership if they can change it out for you.

Hey there,! If you are taking delivery next week, you are getting a 2011 and not a 2012. 2012's go into production on August 1. Yes there were some changes on the 12 Unfortunately when you placed your order many of the changes were unknown. I just ordered a 12 last night. I have done my research for 3+ months and will not be surprised to see changes when I take delivery ie different grill, some interior changes etc. Good luck

If you really want that stuff, exercise you right of first refusal....and re-order a 12...
If it is a good dealer they will undersatand....not so good, you could loose the deposit....biggest negative is a second wait...
one thing learned by many....doing retrofits on a mini can get very $$$ very fast...

Owners Lounge says 2012 Mini Cooper S and has the 2012 changes to the packages. It's a 2012 and will be the first 2012 delivered to the Indianapolis dealership. I had to wait an extra two or three weeks before they ordered it. Everything the dealer showed me has said 2012 also. If it turns out to not be a 2012, I will obviously not accept the car as that's not what I ordered.

I never really understood the value of a compass mirror.......as for the the leather dash keep in mind that you have to maintain it especially since it will bake under the sun. The other things are minor and can be done after you get the car. Just tell the MA you are really disappointed about the compass and leather dash but would settle for them installing the other items. If they wont pay they should give you a discount at the least.

You are 100% correct, you are getting a 2012. Mine was completed on July 8 and should hit Charleston (3rd stop on route) on July 30!!

One thing to point out....
updates/upgrades and refreshes on mini's often are rolled out in a less than production year based schedule....
my 2005, but late 2004 production has all the mechanical updates of the 2005, but certain interior updates were not phased in till actual jan1 2005 production, including 2 stage airbags, blutooth provisioning, and an updated overhead to hold the pad airbag on/off light....
not sure how the gen2 updates on the current refesh are getting rolled out, but in the past they have phased them in over a few months....

I'll probably do the upgrade to leather in a few years. Hopefully I can find a dealer that will sell me a replacement BLACK Tachometer and Speedometer since I'll have to take the dash completely apart to do the swap.

EDIT:
I'll do a very comprehensive "HOW TO" video if I do end up doing it.

Mine went into production on 7/3/11 and is currently on it's way and will be received in Baltimore Port tomorrow. It is a 2012 MCS Convertible so I'm not sure if production for the other models is delayed.

To be fair, the SM probably had no idea what was changing either. New car rollouts have a surprise factor for everyone.

I was at my dealer today in Orlando, and they already have a few 2012's on the lot. So looks like some were started early.
