i just got the weather stripping and cut a long enough piece to shove between the windshield and the dash from the L side of the car to the R. worked pretty good, until i discovered that part of my dash (area behind where I insert the key) had came loose, probably from hitting that curb i nailed. I pushed it right back into place and all interior squeaks i had were completely eliminated because of that. >>>>

Glad to hear (or not hear) it. Just keep a roll in the car or garage and when it reappears, as it will, just tighten it up again. It should last a while, but I guess it depends on usage too.

PS, probably read it on the site, but I have seen a mini tech do it at the mini shop, so it is a 'official' fix.

I've been putting driving upwards of 600 miles per week for the past three months. I'll keep the roll in the car :-)

Thanks again.

I've noticed a rattle from the drivers side B-Pillar and the sunroof mechanisim. I'm wondering if the sunroof thing might not be the air dam rattling. If I compress the plastic up there by pinching it with my hand it goes away but I have to grip fairly tightly. As for the B-Pillar, I guess I'll figure that out when I start gutting the car.

The sunroof airdam should have a strip of felt on each side, which will face up when they are folded forward (i.e. sunroof closed). If they are missing, installing some should surely help.

My MINI is like Jekyll and Hyde. On a smooth highway, it's tight and solid and rattle-free. On our wonderfully potholed NJ roads, it's a cacophony of plasticky squeaks and rattles. When I have some time, I'm going after the three most annoying: Tach rattle, overhead (sunroof rattle), and an odd clunking sound from the rear (maybe hatch or spare tire).

I have the exact same rattles. The dealership fixed my tach, but I'm not sure how.

I've brought my MINI in to have the sunroof fixed at least 4 times AND THEY HAVE YET TO EVEN HEAR IT. Lol. Guess I just have really good hearing, or they are all deaf. But seriously it's the only issue I've ever had with my dealer, because that damn thing rattles like crazy right above my ear. Of corse my dealership told me that it was because I had stuff in my trunk and was echoing up to the roof. Riiiiiight. Anyway done ranting! I just wish I could find a fix, because I love my sunroof, but I don't think I would order it again after all this trouble.

As for the clunking in the rear, I haven't the faintest clue what the heck that is!
Oh well, my solution is the same as everyone else, blast the stereo, roll down the windows, and hit the gas!
