New road on my paint

So I take pure side streets to work mostly because of traffic but now that I have my new mini the road is a little more fun too. Anyway without warning the other day, I came up on a construction crew resurfacing the road. I believe its called slurry. Anyway as I was driving on it I could see the trails where other cars picked up and threw junk from the tires. When I got to work I noticed specks of black goo on the back side of the front fenders and the rear bumper . I can pick it off with my finger but that only gets 80-90% of it. I'm sure working at it will get it all off. My question is what is the best method for this. Clay bars? This is my first car I really want to keep the car in great condition so I'm new to the exterior car care. Any brand suggestions are appreciated too.

Hey There,

Sorry to hear about that. One of the roads I take to work was just recently repaved without any warning (or signs on that park of the road for fact) with that slurry stuff

I recommend using a clay bar followed by a good wax. I used Mother's (as the store was out of Meguir's) Clay Bar on my R53 and it took everything off...looks like a new MINI. I prefer to stick with Meguir's but the Mother's Clay Bar worked like a champ. If you have any of that stuff on your wheels, again I prefer Meguir's but the store was out, use Turtle Wax's ICE 3-in-1 Wheel Cleaner. It works great! You can use it on rims and tires. It is a cleaner, sealant, and wax all in one.

Hope this helps!

Good luck!

I would go with bug and tar remover on spec at a time before the clay bar

+1. Or WD40 or Liquid Wrench. Both will dissolve petroleum based stuff.

Picked up some tar and bug stuff (had no idea it existed) and a clay bar for everything else. The turtle wax tar and bug worked pretty good. Thanks
