2006 Mini S 50K mi transmission gone

Just curious if anyone has any information regarding the automatic transmissions on the 06 S. Mine just turned 50K miles and the transmission needs to be replaced. Is this a common problem or am I just lucky?

From what I've read, the 06 had the best auto and manual transmissions of the previous year models. I think you just "lucked" out.

Don't feel so bad, the 2006 MC that I just bought had a worn out manual transmission bearing, and previous owner just decided to replace the transmission with a brand new one. $4000 later he decided it was too expensive of a car and sold it to me.

Want to hear the real kicker? It only had 17k when the MT transmission bearing went out on it... (only has 18.5k now)

The Aisin built auto in the S is usally trouble-free. Sorry to hear of your bad luck. Please let us know exactly why it needs to be replaced.
