does it hurt the engine to blip the throttle when downshifting

i realize this is an ocd question but i have to ask anyway...

When downshifting i blip the throttle to match the revs of the lower gear for a smooth shift.

I know the blip eases the wear on the clutch and transmission but what about the engine?

When you blip the throttle the rpms go from say, 2000 rpm to 3000 rpm in an instant. Under normal acceleration the rpms increase slowly not quickly like the blip causes.

So do you think the instant but brief rpm increase caused by the blip is hurting the engine?

Aye. Do this every downshift every time, sprint booster makes it smoother. Smooth = fast.

LOL - I meant upshifting...and of course exaggerating a bit.

I love the combat boots comment though.

Aye, and if anything, I'd think that it would reduce the strain on the mechanical components of the car (engine included).
