Safe selling help in NAM Market

I did search with no luck. I am selling my MCS in the market here on NAM and was soliciting advice from those who had sold cars before. I would like to make sure the transaction goes smoothly for myself and the buyer. And I am wondering what people have done to avoid being taken by someone who is paying from out of state. What forms of payment have people accepted?

Personally I wouldn't accept anything but a wire transfer. Any check would have to clear for 3 weeks or so to combat fraud, even ceritified ones. You bank will show it cleared and it can be weeks before they fraud is noticed (i.e, valid account, balance, just the owner wasn't the one issuing the check.)

Bought mine off the Market, but luckily for me, the seller was "local" but we still decided to go with a cashiers check from my bank. We exchanged routing information in case and met face to face a few times and communicated a lot through email and phone.

Good luck!

I was figuring the OP was shipping the car. If cash is an option it is top of my list.

Thanks for the replies up to this point. To be fair to Ian (EmaciatedCow) I really wasn't asking about him specifically. We had not gotten far enough in the process to begin to discuss payment arrangements but I really wanted to be prepared when I did. Besides, cash is always good...LOL. Also Ian, I have a second car up for sale and the next person may not be paying cash.

It's all just common sense, if something doesn't feel right it probably isn't.

Verify buyers address and then send pic of gun/baseball bat/ weapon of choice to make sure they understand that being suckered is not an option!!!
