I was watching the local news in Indianapolis about a window that blew out of one of the downtown buildings and crashed onto the street.
As the reporter was talking, the camera slowly pans to the nearby intersection & follows a red R53 down the road and out of sight. Then the camera slowly went back to the reporter.
The camera operator must own a MINI or want one.
Made me smile

So, tonight, watching my DVR'd soap, "The Bold and The Beautiful",young Hope is driving around, pan a bit forward to reveal she is most definitely motoring in a yellow Mini with black bonnet stripes! Sure hope they don't trash it, like they did, Abbey's PW mini in Y&R! Both have same producers, etc...
There is a couple of MINIs in the new Muppet movie. There is a Cooper at the beginning that doesn't really fit in the whole scene at all. Then about a 1/4 to 1/2 throught there is a Cabrio Cooper, couldn't see the front to tell if it was a S or not, with the top up. Both are 2nd gens.
I was watching an episode of American Horror Story a few weeks ago on Hulu, I think I spotted a MINI in the right side middle screen. Kind of sad that I can find them now in shows when they are blurry and shown for a second or two...

I certainly watch a fair amount of tv, and do not recall seeing a commercial for the countryman and the clubman.

There is an AT&T LTE comercial with 2 guys tailgating with their phones.
They are both sitting infront of a Countryman with the hatch up so you can't see the MINI logo.
Also, in Sterio Hearts, by Gym Class Heros, there are multiple shots of a Countryman in most of the video...I think there was a red R53 there too.

Regarding your comment, that really surprises me. I have NEVER seen a commercial on TV for either model. This sounds like a really poor marketing strategy. I mean, cmon BMW, if you're cranking out a new MINI SUV, why do you never advertise it? I've met people who still don't know about the Countryman. I seriously wonder how much money MINI loses because of lack of advertising. I have also NEVER seen a magazine ad for the Countryman. In the "old days" MINI went all out and even had a keychain that lit up billboards in some cities. It would say "Hello, John Doe. Enjoying your MINI today?" That was ingenious advertising.
