hey man I'm also in sd. I had a tacoma and a lifted wrangler before this car and I have no regrets. you'll find that parking and maneuvering into parking spots is way easier. I picked up my 2005 S for $13,000 (damn good of a deal) with only 36k on it, fully loaded. I had been looking for one for over a year so when I found this one in Venice beach I snatched it.

go for an 05-06 S, and get rid of that gas hog. good luck

Thanks guys! I love it now. At first I wasn't sure I would like the blue, but I find it very mysterious and super stealth . I am still in the blacking out process but will hopefully be finished in time for the Dragon. So fun to go a completely different style than El Kabong.

Here is a pic of what was in my garage not too long ago-

Here's my garage now-

My husband got the Countryman S and I got a new MCS. We still have the Titan for now, but will only drive it if necessary due to gas prices.

I have the horizon blue as well, but never thought about blacking out the chrome. Looks awesome!

i've always had the Jeeps, SUV's, all with lifts and large tires, and most recent was a 2004 chevy silverado with a 6" superlift suspension kit and rolling on 35" tires. i've always had a place in my heart for the mini's and once i drove the wife's i had to get my own. the dog thing, we have 2 jack russells and a 130 pound 10 month old alaskan malamute. they all fit in the rear with the seats folded down with no problems. he even gets in from behind the front seats. i'll be building my own seat delete soon enough once this rain moves out.

You will love the mini... good luck in your choice...

I've heard this multiple times now. Is this the consensus of the Mini community? If you're going used, get an 05/06? Stay away from an 07/08?

How do you train your young male to not dominate every male he comes into contact with? He's been getting extremely aggressive towards males if they don't submit right away to him.

(sorry to be off topic here)

it's preference really, I prefer the 05-06 to the newer ones. some will disagree some won't, they are just two different cars and feel different to me

There are definitely differing opinions, but this is the one I have come across most here. Conventional wisdom suggests later models in a given generation are more likely to have bugs worked out.

I kept my Jeep, I was looking for a fun fast fuel efficient car. Can't beat the Mini for that!

I went from driving a full sized quad cab Ram 4x4 to my Mini Cabrio. I still have the truck but mostly drive the Mini. When I go to drive the truck now it is like driving it for the very first time because I have to get re-used to the size. I say own both if you can afford it!!!!!

Owned a 2004 chevy crewcab with duramax and allison at the same time I owned our first MINI, a 2005 S. Only drove the truck in the winter for work when I did construction and when I had to tow something. Dumped the truck in 2008 when fill ups went to over $100. Don't miss it one bit. I have a mini do more hitch and aluminum trailer to tow. Haul 4-wheelers, mowers, lumber, just about anything reasonable. Nope don't miss it at all. Now we have a 2009 clubman and it is a much better "riding" car....the 2005 would beat the tar out of you. I do miss the burble during deceleration that the '05 had. If you purchase a supercharged model be prepared to shell out a grand to get that supercharger rebuilt if it makes it to 100K miles.

Hadn't heard about that, (I only have 32,000 miles), so I did some research on options, just for future knowledge.

Found this service provider ($895 service for full rebuild), but I don't know anything about them.

You owe it to yourself.
Be one of a kind instead of one of many.
