MINI Cooper is one of the top 12 greenest vehicles for 2011 - Link
The article is about the Leaf not pushing past the natural-gas powered civic GX, but on the list, in joint 8th place is the MINI!- It's just ahead of the VOLT, not too shabby at all.

The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (nonprofit) released their annual list of greenest vehicles.
The council's methodology takes into consideration the upstream emissions of an electric vehicle, as well as the cost of production and recycling of the car, and in the electric vehicle's case, producing and disposing an Li-Ion battery as well. The battery data was used for the first time, reducing the number of hybrids on the list.

 

I'm sure that report will generate a lot of talk due to the fact all these other higher profile "green" cars got beat by a car I honestly didn't know about.

 

The CX has been around for eight years- fleet sales mostly - availability is restricted to a few states (California, NY, couple others) and apparently Honda barely makes 1,000 a year.

 

Green?!?!? really?......ugh, i dont want people to think im a tree hugger now.

Come on, green mirror caps and brake calipers have "tree hugger" written all over it .

 

Cool! MINI's are green and they keep it cool rather than looking like a Prius, part of the reason why I bought one!
