Let me add to the list. Coumbia SC where I-20, I-26, and I-126 converge and all secondary roads in that area is a beast at most times, but mainly during the rush hours. That mess of traffic can cause a real headache and serious road rage.

Lots of Jersey bashing here. Much of it well-deserved.

I would not take a tank into Camden, much less a MINI.

There are good spots down here at the shore, although the roads are flat.

Stay off the streets of Waukesha Wisconsin .... unless you really want to get a whole new suspension. Man, those potholes, cracks, heaves, and missing utility covers are nasty !

i avoid the construction zones like the plague - low speed limit and debris/nails everywhere to harm your wheels.

I hate parking lots and ramps where I can't park way out in the back 40. Too many people don't know how to park.

Other than that, I've driven my MINI miles out into ranch land in MT with just grass two-tracks. That was about the worse. I knew it was going to be rough when I had to drive through a herd of cattle. I was afraid the grass below my car would catch on fire when I parked it. I could have left my car in town, but that was scarier.

I've also driven mine up Old Fall River Road in Rocky Mountain National Park; that was rough. A Jeep would have been a better choice for those places.

The most dangerous place for my MINI so far was downtown Grand Junction CO, where someone backed into it!

anywhere where the roads are torn up, I take detours just to avoid the cracked/bumpy/pot-hole crater roads due to california's budget deficit which doesn't leave near enough money to repave roads

There are a few roads in the St. Pete/Clearwater area that I avoid like the plague. US 19 for a variety of reasons: hellish traffic, rough roads due to construction (and just as a matter of course). Ulmerton Road as well from the western part of county heading east.

The boy child was in college in Providence RI the last two years. Not a road in sight of that city that didn't have major holes or construction. Also, pretty much every road on the way up there from VA. Everything north of Delaware. 95 past NY has some decent stretches though.

Matole Road (California's Lost Coast). Never again in the Mini. Not after blowing the two right side tires in one of the thousands upon thousands of potholes. No cell phone coverage. A pay phone at a small county camp down the road worked. However, the phone bill arrived a month later to the tune of 150 dollars. 2.5 hours to get a tow truck out to me. (That was actually doing good.) The tow truck blowing a hydraulic line just as it was pulling my car onto the bed of the truck. (Spraying all over the hot muffler and exhaust system....me visioning the entire truck going up in flames with my Mini on top.) 3 hours back to Fortuna. No tires in the right size the next morning. And discovering I have a nail in a third tire..........

But all ended well and we were back on the road by noon.

I too, avoid wal mart. and I try not to go out when it snows here, as everyone in Dallas seems to think "oh, the roads are icy? and they're not sanded or salted yet? why yes! I think I'll drive 50 today and end up in a ditch or someone else's car!" I also avoid driving in the city when I can. and I will go someplace an hour early just to avoid rush hour. anywhere. I hate traffic.

Snow. I will not ever ever again drive in snow. I can't do it and no one else can no matter how much they say they can.

Well i would have to disagree with you on that, living in NYC for most of my life and driving to work at very off hours when nothing is plowed I am pretty much not phazed by snow. We have over 6 feet on the ground here already and my mini has been great. If you prepare your car correct, and dont over drive it you will be fine.

Aiight, I was holding off, but I've had it, I've got to add to the Jersey List. I live in Bergen County, and recently, it's been an absolute nightmare driving around here! Which is such a shame because I'm in love with my MINI, but at the same time, I'm very, VERY afraid for it. Aside from the horrific pot holes that I have to swerve to avoid (if I can safely), I've had WAYYYYYYY too many close calls, which, if they (thank god not) wound up being accidents, they wouldn't have been my fault! On my way to work this morning, someone ran a stop sign RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME, I couldn't swerve left to avoid them as there was a car on that side of me, so by the graces of god, me slamming on my brakes and horn in addition to the person behind me doing the same, and that MORON having to throw his car into reverse all worked to prevent an accident. There are an unfortunate number of other close calls I've encountered within the past week which have definitely tested the ABS, but my MINI's still going strong Watch out people, if the streets in Jersey don't swallow your car, the other idiots will wreck it

Gravel Roads. I don't trust the gravel to not crack my windshield. Already replaced once.

There was a period of road construction near my house where there was a 200 ft section of gravel road. I went 5 mins out of my way every trip to avoid those 200 ft.

I hope to never drive my own car in NYC again. Once was enough. GW bridge at rush hour trying to get thru the stupid toll booths was a nightmare. Amazed I got the MINI out of there undamaged. It seems that in NYC it is OK to back into cars when parking since every bumper on almost every car there is trashed.

And I will never take my own vehicle south of the border. With all the drug stuff going on, I may never go to Mexico again... car or plane.

I stay away from roads with large Semi Trucks; they just like to throw rocks at you.

Then I stay away from roads with snow or ice; the state road crews just love to cover the road surface with sand filled with 1/4 inch rocks and other s__t.

You might as well have a target on your windscreen !

This thread is too late. It should be started two years ago when I was making desicion on my MINI. Now I've driven 90% of worst roads some of them many times without even noticing. Should I park my MINI now and go by subway???

I cannot drive behind any semi truck that has an open top trailer. Even with the tarp, those things never work and only do a nice job of sandblasting the front of your car with rocks and debris.
