Investigate Alta's Accessport before you try much of anything, then some suspension mods, intercoolers (FMIC) exhaust, tires, lightweight wheels, etc, etc, etc. Good luck.

The Accessport is only for Turbo cars, so it won't work on a supercharged MINI. The Turbo car is a whole different world for mods.

If he has a supercharged car the best thing he can do is get the pulley, then decide what he wants next.

Welcome to NAM MiniHCP.

The standard boost on your R53 supercharger is around 10 psi, but many of us have boosted the R53 to around 15 psi peak with a boost kit. It you are into more spirited driving, it's highly recommended.

Here's the kit from Alta: http://bit.ly/bs5HNA.
Or, here's the kit from WMW: http://bit.ly/bGTG3q.

This kit plus a high-volume CAI and new cat-back pipes will help your MCS breath better. These mods will typically put you close to the 200HP mark. These are the most common engine mods that make day-to-day driving the R53 more enjoyable.

A cam and bigger injectors will get you another 20 or so. At this point you'll also need your car tuned (RMW recommended) for max performance, which might possibly yield 250HP tops.

Here's a link to the forum's many threads on R53 mods: https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/modifications-196/

Happy modding and motoring!

As a previous owner of an 06 r53 MCS i did the following mods in this order

Magnaflow Catback exhaust
Alta Cold Air Intake
Alta 15% reduction pulley.

I did mine in stages, Exhaust was done within 3 months of owning the car (awesome sound, not a civic/fart pipe sound by anymeans)

CAI was installed 8 months after exhaust and pulley was done a year after the CAI. I did mine in stages so i could appreciate and get to know the mods and what they did rather then just doing them all at once. Each mod had an amaizing affect on performance with the pulley being the greatest of all.

The whine and whoosh of the CAI....Intoxicating! i have a 11 clubman s now and love it but deep down i will ALWAYS be a supercharger guy...the whine is addicting.

Here's two more cents. I’m using Borla “street” exhaust. This is a very high quality exhaust system that is superior to the contraption MINI devised. It is not loud in the cabin nor is there any drone at any RPM. The Borla “race” exhaust is too loud for most people and could cause you legal issues in some cities. I’ve read some threads that showed both dyno at about the same HP gain except near redline. There are other excellent exhaust systems for the MINI such as the Milltek, but I would rate Borla as one of the best IMO.

Let me guess, you have a 1000 watt amp too . You'll need it to hear the radio .

Anyway, both the Milltek and Borla (race or street) make a really nice throaty sound.
