Mini Do More hitch question

Since I already have my bumper off I was thinking about putting on a hitch. How do you put the pin thru the receiver to hold the hitch assembly in place. It looks like you cant get to it from below or the side and it doesnt look as if it sticks out very far to have access to the thru hole. Anyone help? Thanks Jim

The instructions/videos of MiniDoMores don't really show how connecting the pin actually works. I took my car in last week to a local hitch shop that was familiar with the MiniDoMore. He put my car up on a lift and showed me how there's actually a fair amount of room behind the bumper for setting the pin through the receiver, caveat being it's right above the exhaust and best to let the car cool a bit before installing/removing the pin.
He also told me the hitch would not work on my 2011 as the newly placed foglights intrude into the space that the hitch occupies. The hitch will have to be tweaked to work on 2011's.

I wrote this up for my 2011 Clubman S, which was the tester vehicle for the Minidomore hitch. Granted it is a different design than the coupe, but you can see the basics of how the assembly goes together. In general, accessing the cotter pin to secure the hitch is much easier than it was on the first gen MINIs. YI will say that I ALWAYS waited about 20 minutes before accessing the hitch after driving. The pipes are close! But it's a great system.

Oh, as far as how you access the pin, you reach under there and pull it or put it in. Early on you'll do this by sight, by laying down and looking. Later you may be able to do it blind...
