MINI Track Car Conversion

MINI Track Car Conversion
I just came up with a plan today to purchase a MINI Cooper S to convert into a dedicated track car. I want to buy a 2003-2005 Cooper S that has a less than perfect exterior and interior but a strong engine and suspension, then strip it out and make it my track car.
The thing that I am curious about is would it be possible to buy a MINI, sell everything that I don't need on the car, basically all of the interior bits and trim pieces, then sell those parts to make some of my money back.
Does anyone have any estimates on what I could get a car in this condition for and how much I would be able to sell all of the stripped out parts for?
I want something to use for Auto Cross and the occasional track day. It doesn't need to look pretty, it just needs to drive proper.

Good luck with this plan, price for project car is what ever you find and how much they want? Strong engine and suspension, crap interior may be tough to find unless you can find one that has been bent but not in the running gear. As far as selling unwanted pieces depends on what you have and what condition its in. Lot of stuff goes out through Marketplace all the time. Until you have the car, none of these questions can be answered except with a WAG.

Heck ya you can sell everything off of it. There all kinds of people that need replacement pieces. Just be prepared you are getting ready to go down a long road. It is going to be expensive. It might be in your best interest to consider buying an already made track car. Do price comparisons on how much it would cost for you to make one and how much it cost to buy one already made.

Why not look for a Mini that is already set up for the track ? I am selling mine if you are interested. All it needs is more gutting out and a rollbar/rollcage. You will save a lot more this way. I have a link on motoringunderground, just search for my sn. Pm me if you like.

Give me a call I have a car that is already a track car that can be had for a GREAT price. But if you want a project I have 3 cars that would be prospects for a project.
