Can dealer provide service history of used Mini?
I just bought a used Mini and it is still under warranty. Are Mini service centers willing to provide a copy of the car's service history? (I assume they know the history. The question is whether they'll tell me.)
Cheers,

i bought mine from carmax and when i first took it to the mini dealer they were able to look up the history and tell me i didn't ask for a copy though. i just wish i could have got the previous owners name and number, to really find out how the car was treated.
I would think this would be provided both as a service to the customer, and also to create potential business for the dealership. In the ideal world, we'd all get to meet the previous owner of the car and get the unvarnished truth about how the car was driven/maintained, but I know I don't live in that world...yet.
Thanks for correcting the link.

Register for the MINI owners lounge http://ol.miniusa.com. You need to enter your car's VIN number.
Some service history was already entered in my "service records" section when I bought my used MINI.

I emailed the service department where our '06 MC was bought new and they responded with all the information on it's services; even down to replacing wiper blades. That was quite a relief, as there was no record of any services in the car. That, the service and CPO status from the dealer we bought it from, and a PPI from our independent shop settled our concerns.

Thanks for all your responses. It seems that service records in the "lounge" ...
... are there only if the owner enters them manually. Not much useful stuff in the lounge. About all it could tell me is what color my car is.

This is correct but the important word is CAN, not will.
I bought my MINI from a private party and one dealer was happy to look up the service history and give me a printed copy. The other dealer I have gone to will not tell me anything.
One will one won't.
Just depends on the dealership.
Not MINI related but we just bought a used Hyundai and the dealer printed all of the service records, with the prior owners name, address and phone number.
I have not contacted the prior owner as I think that would be poor form on my part, but it is nice to have in case there is ever a problem and I need their version of what happened with the car.

Even the salesmen can pull up this info. I would just call and get a salesman, and ask. It takes about 30 seconds and all you need is the last few numbers of the vin. Do it at a slow time of the day, not Saturday...like 4 pm on a wednesday.
