Accident
I am still annoyed with the attitude she displayed after the police officer gave her the tickets. She could have gotten both of seriously injured or killed but thought she did nothing wrong.

We went through this at the end of March. My wife and I were driving in the middle lane of a 6 lane road with divided median and the other lady just turned in the median and ran perfectly into the side of us. She had a few different arguments as to how she didn't see us, but we were going to fast, then she told the officer we were turning from a side road and we just hit each other, and the stories just kept coming once I went to the hospital to check on my wife. She ended up having 24 previous tickets/infractions but fought it and went to court for it. We were subpoenaed to appear and testify our statements and once severe bodily injury was mentioned she got the maximum fine, $500 and the bailiff took her license for 90 days. My wife was sore and needed therapy and was out of work for 2.5 weeks. No permanent damage but her car was totaled and we had to go through the whole process but it could have been worse. It took a few days for the worse pain to set in for my wife so don't milk it but be aware the pain may be there for a bit while your body and cart heal.
Sorry for the semi-threadjack but I felt is was relevant and I totally understand where you are coming from.
That's one of my hot buttons -- people who absolutely don't give a tinker's damn about anybody but themselves. Everyone else is just an impediment. In her mind she probably thinks it was all your fault for getting in her way.I got rear-ended at a stoplight by a chick who could produce no proof of insurance, and no valid registration for her car. She got all pissed-off because I had the audacity to call the cops to the scene of her negligence. After all... She was late for her swimming class, and that whole "reporting a property damage accident" thing was gonna make her even later.
Just another nail in the coffin of my love of humanity.

Well its cool you are going to get yours. She is going to be paying for this for a while. I just hope she learns that she has to pay attention behind the wheel because one day she might kill someone or herself. But like I have said numerous times I hate people a lot.
Every time I see the new Mercedes commercial, I want to throw a brick at the TV. "I didn't realize I was drifting into the other lane... I didn't notice the car in front of me had stopped. Luckily, my car did."
Their new tagline ought to be, "Mercedes-Benz: The car for people with their heads up their @sses."
Good luck. I hope you find the world's meanest lawyer and sic 'im on her....

) and to continue the semi-hijacking of the thread, I also had an experience with these folks that try to blame everyone else for their problems/mistakes. I was leaving work in my Mustang one night and was heading home after my usual 10 hour day in the left lane of a four lane undivided highway. I had gotten about 1 block from the access road to my work facility and this female person in a mid-70's Caddy (the ones of battleship design) decided to turn left from the intersecting road when I was only 100 ft away
. Even though I was only doing 35 (really), I didn't have time to hit the brakes and of course T-boned her. I didn't hurt her car much, but my poor 'Stang was DOA (but she did go out fighting). After I had collected my wits and crawled past the airbags and out the passengers door, I was confronted with 10 of her "friends" all trying to accuse me of causing the accident! Fortunately, a police officer I know pulled up within a couple of minutes when she heard the accident dispatched. It was kind of interesting to watch all of her "friends" disappear when the marked unit pulled up! She ended up having problems with her insurance and was found at fault but it still was a major PIA to deal with everything.
Sorry to hear about this Tmini... the sight of a crumpled MINI is disturbing to me. And you're right, I did fair much better in my encounter with a *luxury sedan*. Not that I'm at all happy about it - I do wish you luck in getting that MINI back in shape!
I Haven't seen him on here much since he wrecked his MINI, but try and contact OrangeCrush (Mark) to get a second opinion on the Damage through your pictures. Sure he will only be able to give a rough estimate, but He has lots of time on MINIs and can definately Ball Park it to make sure the adjuster isn't shorting you.
Good Luck.
Good Luck.
I had no idea. That was one sweet MINI. Any word on how he's doing? I'm assuming he's OK...
Didnt you say the husband pulled up in a Mercedes...they should have switched cars for the day!
Thanks. Hopefully I will have it back by Thanksgivings. The rental is a decent ride but it's no mini, I really miss the way my car handles. Anyone who says all cars drive the same has never driven a mini.
I'm okay... hit a wall at 120. Oscar faired really well. I'm pleased.
Not trying to hijack the OP's thread but here's the link to the repair.
Now, back on track... to the original poster. I have ONE suggestion. Do NOT take your car to your insurance company's "preferred" shop. Find an independent in your area.
We just repaired a fellow mini's clubman that she had fixed at her mini dealer. She drove 7'ish hours to get to us but what she got was typical industry standard insurance company work.
Unless you don't care... that would be my suggestion.

Wow, I am glad you both are ok. I am scratching my head as to how you don't see a Lightning Blue car!
I almost got hit the day I brought my new MINI home, some jerk tried to sneak through the stop sign in front of me. My wife gave the dude the bird haha.
Best of luck Tmini08 and orangecrush on the repair, and personal recovery. In my thoughts and prayers, both of you.

I don't think it's going to get any better. Auto manufacturers keep installing more distractions in their cars, then try to counter them with "attention assist" devices.

Hilarious! Thanks for a good laugh this morning.
And, TMini08, try to keep your head up about all of this. Having to take the MINI in for repairs all because of someone else's fault is so annoying and frustrating. I have been in that situation before, having been slammed into when stopped at a red light, on my way to dinner for my birthday! I did not have a MINI then, and I can only imagine that if someone ever slammed into my MINI I would go completely beserk. But just think of how nice your Thanksgiving will be when you get your MINI back! Please post pics of your MINI after it's repaired and let us know how it all turns out.
Best of luck!
Well I have my mini back and the collision shop did a great job putting ZIM back together. Thanks to everyone for sharing kind words, thoughts and advice through this ordeal.
Glad to hear it's fixed up and back home, and that you came out of it ok! My neck still pops and clicks and clacks and thunks from an accident 18.5 years ago where I got rear-ended....

I love that line!!! I may have to steal it! I just don't know how I missed it the first few times through this thread?!?

Hopefully you and your MINI will be back to normal in no time!
