Changed Maintenance Program

I confirmed today that Mini did change the free oil change program. It's now free at one year only if you have less than 6,000 miles, if you have more than 6,000 miles they tell you to wait for the service light (probably-17,000 to 18,000). The only reason I can see this other than saving themselves a lot of money is if you only have 6,000 miles your on pace for an oil change in 3 years. When I called the dealer today they actually said don't waste your money you have synthetic oil. I just hit 10,000 miles and I'll hit one year in about 10 days. I'm not trying to start the weekly debate about whether it makes sense to change it just wanted to make sure everyone knew this and are not suprised if they go to the dealer expecting a free oil change at one year.
