Maintenance/Repair Question

There's a silver "pot", about the size of a grapefruit, just to the left of the intercooler radiator (in the same general location as a ground strap) that appears to be fairly sturdy and it's oozing a thick black oily looking liquid (drips on the garage floor over night). What is the "pot" and what is the dark oily liquid? Anyone know?

That's your upper engine mount. You might notice when you stomp on the gas pedal, you get a knock sound also.

The dampening against engine rocking is a fluid filled bladder inside the mount. That bladder has a tendency to leak after 5+ years. The mount isn't too expensive nor difficult to replace. I kept my old leaking one to see if there was a way to fix it (will get into that in my spare time ).

The black oil can be taken off your car frame using isopropyl alcohol.
