MINIest Cities in USA?

What's the "MINIest" city in USA?

According to the latest MINI Magazine I got home (my first one actually), the MINI dealer from DC is the biggest in USA... But I don't know how big DC area is, so maybe all those MINIs get spread out...

I live in San Francisco and I have to say: SF is probably one of the "MINIest" cities in USA!!

You can't go a city block in SF without seeing a MINI

The reasons?... I can point two:

Parking and gay men!!

Parking is a huge issue in SF, so having a small car is ideal
Gay men LOVE their MINIS... LOL

So, how "MINI" is the city you live in? Do you go days without seeing one?... Hours?... Minutes?...

I'd have to think Kansas City is up there near the top in terms of MINI registrations, Baron MINI has been one of the top volume dealers since they started selling MINIs in this country, and I also can't seem to drive a block (or even less!) without seeing one or more. KC definitely supports the MINI culture!

As to the gay population in KC, I don't know......

I know we have some gay club members, but how many I couldn't begin to guess or even care - they're all just MINI brethren (and sistren? ) to me....

Yeah, I would say when driving in SF I'd see about a MINI every 5-10 minutes. Ordinarily that would be great. The only problem is, not one of them will wave back. WTF? So in terms of cities with the most MINI culture, I would rank SF almost at the bottom. Sadly.

I've had better luck with other cities in the Bay Area though.

I'm always scared to wave hi to other mini drivers in sf.. because yes we aren't friendly at all.

HAHAHA!

True... I haven't tried to wave at anyone, but if someone waves at me I'll wave back. Promise.
But if every MINI owner in SF really starts doing that we'll have to drive with our windows always down and constantly waving!!!

OK, so if you see a Clubby Hot Chocolate with Black Bonnet Stripes, WAVE! It's either me or my boyfriend
(The only other Clubby Hot Chocolate I've seen in SF has no stripes)

Here in Los Angeles there are a ton. I live in the suburbs and do Mini counts each day. Yesterday I counted 9 just doing local errands. While driving from the city to where I live, we counted over 25 in just an hour and a half.
I wave and people look at me like I'm nuts, but one lady waved back

Perhaps Raymore (a Kansas City suburb) is MINI'est. I can see 3-4 every morning on my commute. My commute is 3 miles long. Sometimes I see as many as 6.

Driving around KC we play the MINI game. A 30 minute drive will usually get us 10+ MINI's.

Cool.

My commute is also 3 miles... but on a bike ... The lucky boyfriend takes the MINI to work...
I'm going to count the MINIs on the way back today and tomorrow morning

NYC is picking up fast. A year ago when I bought mine there were only two of us parking on the block. Last week I counted six on E 76, two on 77th and one on 75th within two block radius.

There are a ton of MINIs in LA, no doubt....

But when you look at the land area involved, I'll bet there are more per square mile here in the KC area.

I live just outside the Washington D.C. area, in Annapolis Maryland.Large Mini dealer right here.Mini of Annapolis and they're quite a few Minis around. Maybe thats why they don't wave there is so many of them.D.C.has one large one in Va.Also 1 in Baltimore Md.Theyre about 50 miles between the three.

I would also say in Kansas City (and all of the surrounding suburbs, including you, Raymore) we are quite MINI! I see several on my short 7 minute drive from the Crossroads District Downtown to the Country Club Plaza.

As for the gay population, we have quite a significant one. The gays are everywhere.

I would love to live where you could see a mini every few miles! We have the ONLY one that I am aware of for miles around here. I know of 2 others in the area at least 45 miles away. The upside of it is we get lots of attention & stares because there is nothing else like it on the streets around here & there is not a day that goes by that we don't get a chance to tell folks who ask questions about it what a great little car it is!

I meant to also say in my last post that I believe Kansas City area may be the "MINIest" city because we go there often & that's where we fell in love with them in the 1st place. They are zooming around everywhere down there!

I travel a lot for work, and I would definitely say the DC area is up there. i haven't been to SF, so I can't compare the two, but when I was on a detail in DC last year, I saw at least 6 to 7 MINIs everyday on my 7 mile commute to work in Falls Church, VA. Also, my wife bought her Clubby at Passport MINI of Alexandria last September right after they opened. They were the number one selling dealership the first month they opened and have continued to rank at or near the top ever since. There are also two really great MINI clubs in the area - DC Metro MINIs and Central Maryland MINIs. They hold a lot of local events that end up bringing in more and more new owners.

Washington DC is MINI central. Most of the row houses here have alley parking in addition to street and there's usually between 3-6 MINI's per block. I lease one of my parking spaces to a Zipcar MINI.

I live in NOVA (northern va) about 20 minutes outside dc and MINIs are definitely very popular. In fact the town I live in Occoquan, we have some where around 700 or 800 residents and there are about 5 or 6 MINIs (I'm not in the country just a small historic town). I can't drive for long without seeing a fellow MINI and in dc you can't go a block...I'd say they're so popular because the parking in dc is awful and this area has a high avg income so a lot of people in this area can afford them. The recession definitely didn't hit us as hard. Also they get good gas mileage and traffic sux around here.

One distinct MINI memory I have is pulling onto 66w and literally there was a red MINI a white MINI and then my blue MINI. For a lil bit we actually took up 3 lanes...it was neat (good thing no here judges me for being a MINI geek).

No one has said Boston yet?! I could sit on my balcony and count at least 10 in about 10 minutes :D makes sense since parking can be pretty ridiculous out here. I guess it also helps that a lot of people need to drive down my road to get to the dealership

Cleveland?!

Yep folks! Cleveland has to rate up there as one of the MINIest cities. I see at least 3 MINIs a day on my commute from the west side of Cleveland to the east side. Believe it or not, but Classic MINI in Mentor OH (suburb) is one of the highest volume MINI dealers in the U.S. C'mon, you didn't think all those MINIs would leave the Cleveland area like some of our sports team idols now did ya?. Lebron what?!
