I need help!

HI!

I recently just bought a 2006 mini and I bought it without knowing that the differential was broken. The guy I brought it off from said there was nothing wrong with it and I was dumb enough to believe him. So now I'm stuck with a mini with a broken differential that is part of the transmission. The dealership said it would cost roughly around 8K to replace it since i have to get a brand new transmission. A private auto shop said that it would be cheaper to find a use transmission else where so this is why I am here.

I love this car and I hate that I was dumb enough to believe the guy who sold it to me. So is there any way you guys on here can help me find a new transmission that is cheaper and hopefully save me a bunch of money. Please and thank yous!

Its an 06 mini cooper, automatic, front wheel drive. If there are anything else please get back to me.

Sorry to hear about your probs. It's a long shot but if you have a good wrecking yard near you they might be able to track down a donor. I wish you the best, Good luck.

There are no parts available for CVT to rebuild them. The best choice is probably to take a chance at the salvage yard. You need to have the dealer do this job or someone/shop with software to clear the old adaptions from the CVT module and adapt the new transmission to the vehicle

i don't even know where to start when looking into a salvage yard, I did talk to my mechanic and he said he would try to search for one for me but I'm not quite sure how long that would take either. if you guys have any leads on how to find something like this please let me know!

There are some auto salvage parts dealers that specialize in foriegn cars in various cities around the US and most of them are linked by a parts hotline. Find one in your area if he doesnt have a MINI CVT transmission he can get on the line and try to find one. Pulling the part, shipping, and dealer profit for a tough to find piece like this means it won't be cheap. But it is your only way to convert a stationary art piece into a mobile one. You are going to have to get on the phone and be willing to make the calls, it make take more than a couple.

Of course I still don't know how you could have bought a car with a non-functioning transmission, but good luck in finding a solution.

There are some parts available if the belt has not broken it might be repairable, contact these people, it is still going to be costly but probably a lot less than 8k http://www.usedminicooperparts.com/

There has been a change. Parts are available now, though I have not heard of a sucessful rebuild on the forums yet.
