What to Look for on Buying First Mini

I'm interested in buying my first Mini (used) and would appreciate any information on what to watch for, better model years, etc. I'm in Atlanta so I should have a really good amount of vehicles to check out. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

Because you are in Atlanta take any car you find to Way Motor Works to have it checked out. The crew there can give you a good evaluation and costs for any repairs that may be needed. They are one of the best MINI shops around.

Well, if you're looking to buy 1st gen., this guide is a pretty good place to start: http://www.motoringfile.com/mini-r50r53-buyers-guide/

I don't know if there's anything comparable for Cabrio/Clubman/2nd Gen MINIs.

Thanks for the info MCS Fever. Made my decision easier if I DO decide to get a Mini, I'm pretty sure now I at least want an 07.

FYI the stock suspension in the S and the JCW are identical. A firmer sport suspension for the JCW is an option, unless this travesty is being corrected for 2011 builds.

Wonder how many would PAY for it as an option?

Don't feel bad - My 2008 GMC diesel says empty with 6 gallons left. And the coolant temp gage reads 210 all the time, while my DashHawk engine monitor plugged into the data port shows 180-190 actual normal temps. You would think, in a rig capable of towing the weight of 4 or 5 MINI's on a trailer that accurate coolant temp would be important......

Let's see - what would be GMC's equivalent of a useless feature..... How about the heated wiper fluid option I always thought was redonk..... It's on a recall to disconnect and refund owner's $100.... .... Due to overheating and melt down !

Look for a first generation car, either '05 or '06.

Then, make sure it says John Cooper Works on it.

For sure print out and check out the MINI R50/R53 Buyer's Guide that Tim suggested
You are also lucky enough to have one of the few MINI gurus in the nation right there in Atlanta. Check them out Way Motor Works
