There are only 2 things I miss about my 03 Civic- 1- It was the car the dog went in. She's not allowed in the new Mini. 2- It was stick. I miss driving stick terribly. So I've been using the steptronic shift a lot lately. I can pretend I still drive stick this way.

My Wife and I traded our 04 MINI Cooper hardtop a week ago for a 2010 MINI S hardtop. The 2nd Gen MINI is like driving a different car. It feels 'taller' and not as sure footed as the 2004. I like the power and quickness of the S, but oddly enough, I believe that the 2004 handled better. Being a 2nd Gen, the S is "the same but different" than the 2004 and we have spent the past week saying to one another: "I miss my MINI!".

I hope that changes soon....

I parted with my '05 Impreza to get the new '10 JustaCooper I just got. I miss the healthier power and throttle response of the Impreza, and it's more of an adjustment going from AWD to FWD than I expected, but the pros are outweighing the cons.

The MINI is a more comfortable car for me, better appointed, and a whole lot more fun to drive.

I am sure of it. The new MINI is new, but still a MINI. Don't get me wrong. We test drove other cars brands as well as a MINI Clubman. But my Wife did not like the rear styling if the Clubman, and wanted laser blue. Since that is an S only color, 175HP is something I will just need to learn to live with!

I traded a 07 altima for my current MINI. I tend to get attached to cars somewhat and when I had gotten the 07 I did have a month or so when driving my altima I would miss my old car. I even hated when my parents got rid of a car, but always enjoyed the new car smell . So far I haven't really missed the 07 altima much, I think because I enjoy my MCS so much!

When I went with the wife to get her (in the end) 2009 GTI we test drove the new MINI's and we thought they were ok cars. I tryly do love my first gen MCS and hope that MINI gets back to a more ... I dont know how to put it but I think the newer MINI's are more aimed at regular drivers? More of a easy daily driver car, not that that is a bad thing. The GTI I think is our "useful easy comfortable car" OK sorry for rambling, but no I dont miss my trade-in!

I did the "Cash for Clunkers" thing last summer (see my sig...lol). While I occasionally miss the hauling ability of the '02 Dodge Dakota that I traded in, it had well over 170,000 miles on it and a mysterious clunk starting in the front end...I think the truck was well due for it's retirement!

It has been 12 days now since I traded in my 03 Jaguar XJ8... and nope I don't miss it at all. I have the same power to weight ratio as before (okay the clubman might be a little less then the standard Mini S due to a few extra pounds, but it is still a blast to drive. I have just as much if not more trunk space (if the seats are down). And averaging 31+ mpg so far since I bought it the way I Drive.... I haven't looked back.

I only miss my AWD Toyota Matrix when it's snowing. That's most of the winter where I live.

I sold my black 2000 Dodge Durango R/T with a 5.9 liter v8. I don't miss the 11.5 mpg on premium, that's for sure. I miss the 4x4, but that's pretty much it.

Still getting used to jack-rabbit starts in the mini...never had wheel spin in the Durango lol.

Traded my '98 Honda Civic (bought new) for my '03 Cooper S (bought new) and missed the Civic a little just because it was such a good little car. Traded my '03 Cooper S for an '09 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart (bought new) and regretted it almost instantly. Two days and i was calling the dealership to try to get my mini back. Jerks wouldn't give it back! So i was miserable with the Lancer for two years. Just traded that in for a used '05 Cooper S (not a fan of the R56) and I love it!!! Only problem is it's red, bleh. In the process of a "$50 paint job." Flat Black.

Check out the blitz black from john Deere (of all places lol), it's a Valspar paint, very flat and durable, and cheap too. I think I paid $30 for a gallon!

Mini 4 mini

I had an R50 which was my first. Only I bought a R53 and kept the R50 for my daughter who drove it for 18 months. She needed a car and wanted a volvo. ( 4 xcrissake).

then her power steering went.

It was also a CVT. If it was a stick I would still have it.

So I figured in a year or so I was going to put out 7kilobucks to stay in one place.

The r50 went bye bye. I traded it in. I do miss it a bit, but it has gone to someone who will deal with the CVT when it dies.

got her an R55. she hasn't let me drive it yet. Her boyfriend who is a talented AutoXr had figured out all the settings he needs to run it fast thru cones.

I luv the R53. The sound, the pull, the fact you dont need to slow down in corners. If I dont smash it into something hard I will keep it forever.

the r55 is nice too. of course I still need to mount catch cans to slow the carbon problem. You can change the light colours.

R53 forever!

Yes. I did not intend to buy a car, I was actually driving my partner to the lot to buy a car and I ended up with the Mini. I traded my Jeep. I loved my Jeep. The Cooper is a totally different experience than my wrangler, but someday I will have another.

Great thread. The MINI is my first car, other than an '86 topaz I never got to drive, which was towed and crushed into a cube. I didn't start motoring on anything until I was 23. I had a handful of motorcycles: A Rebel 250 mini cruiser, which I crashed and totalled. A Kawasaki ZR550 Zephyr, which I rode for about 10,000KM, and lastly and for the longest, I owned a CBR600 F4. It was a really great bike. Reliable as hell, and more than fast enough to get into a lot of trouble. It had more power than my R50 and a dry weight of ~380lbs.

I definitely miss cracking the throttle and feeling that instant surge of power. I miss passing absolutely everything and anything on four wheels. But, after putting 30,000KM on it, I started to get nervous. I lowsided once when I hit sand in a corner. Sheared off the shifter, pegs and mirror. I let go and the bike continued on and hit a tree, bending the rear wheel. I got it repaired but never had the ***** to go flat-out on it anymore. I felt that I'd had enough luck: two motorcycle crashes I walked away from without injury, and more close calls with bad drivers and bad weather than I could possibly count. Also, my girlfriend hated it, and I felt selfish making her worry every time I left the house.

Was planning on trading it in for a Prelude or a Mustang, but ended up with the MINI. Go figure. Hope the new owner is enjoying her as much as I did!

I'm lovin' the MINI. It's a blast to drive and it's the closest thing to a motorcycle experience I test drove, power to weight ratio aside. I've thought about getting an MCS, but after driving an R53, R55S, and R56S and feeling disappointed, I guess it's not for me. Maybe a JCW? If that doesn't satisfy when I get the urge to switch things up, I'll probably start looking at GTIs or something.

Doing an update from my last post. I still don't really miss my Nissan but, I tell you one thing I don't think I will own another car. I was like this with my last car but, it is way worse now. I can't even picture myself trading for a new MINI when this one finally bites the dust. Though I might by a commuter car so I can have my MINI last a little longer.

Wow, same here!!! I traded a Sky Redline with about 300hp for a justa cooper convertible with about 120hp. I miss the power and the looks of the Sky but the Mini has a bunch of things that I like a lot that the Sky didn't have so it's a fair trade off.

I traded my F350 SRW 6.0 Diesel in for the Mini. I miss it when I want to use the big truck intimidation factor but now I just use the go pedal to leave the ididots behind me. I don't miss the price of diesel and the $100 a week on fuel. I do like the fun, cornering, go fast ability of the MINI. In the long run, no I don't really miss the truck and if I do, I just get in the dually for some big truck intimidation factor....

Traded my 2003 Honda Pilot for Fred (also sold my 2003 Honda CBR954RR ). I still miss the bike, but I've only missed the Pilot once when I had to move 4 servers and a bunch of networking equipment. Still managed to stuff them all into Fred's boot, though!
