Official Manual Transmission Registry
I just bought a 2002 MINI Cooper this weekend, and I'm quite happy that it's Manual.
Originally learned how to drive a stick on my stepdad's 1998 Dodge Neon(worst clutch ever), since then, have had a Hyundai Accent, which was manual, and just upgraded to my MINI. :D

the only problem with stick is the confusion of the automatic transmission. last time i go in one, i sat down, put one foot on the gas and the other on the break. it just didn't feel right! finally i got comfortable and i couldn't figure out how to turn the thing on immediately either. apparently, you have to depress the break! who knew? I felt even more foolish trying to get the key out after i turned off the car in drive. Not my proudest drive
Well, it looks like I will be a member of this fine group! I ordered my CM this afternoon. A 6-speed All4, red with black roof. Told to expect it late March or early April.
While the automatic in the CountryMan is very nice, I just really liked the manual. And it doesn't hurt that that the manual is less expensive - I'm getting LOTS of options. Oh well, you only go around once!

My GF can't drive a stick & it makes me happy
If she could drive a stick I would never see my JCW until it needed gas.
I'm not about to teach her.
She is such a terrible driver none of her girlfriends will teach her.
She can just keep driving her beat up F150 pickup. ( She bought it brand new)

Learned on my r50, I was nervous about burning the pricey clutch but went for it anyway. Didn't take long, having ridden motorcycles I knew the basic principles. Driven a few auto loaners, the clubman s was fun but I feel more connected to the car with a stick.
Been a while since someone posted in this thread! I am a proud owner of a Manual! Before my MINI my other vehicles were more of modes of transportation rather than pure joy (ok...it does get me to work but it does so with a grin on my face) and as such I didn't enjoy their manuals to the fullest extent!
Recently I've been learning to match the speed and the rpms to eventually ease the learning curve of doing some heal & toe action!
Anyways, I wouldn't have my MINI if it didn't have a manual! I'm surprised nobody made a badge, here's a quick one a did (attached)!

Just replaced the clutch and flywheel in my R53 (bought it used a month ago), and now it runs great! I make up excuses to drive it, and I even have the Manual badge that MINI was giving out not too long ago. I don't think I'll ever go back to auto.
I love it! Best manual tranny I've ever driven. I hate switching back to automatic. Been driving manuals for about four years now.
Every time I drive an automatic now I instinctively press the clutch...which usually means I slam on the brakes the first stop I get to on accident given that most automatic's brake pedals are the size of basketballs! It certainly reminds me that I'm in for a boring drive haha!

Just a curious hypothetical for those on the manual end of the spectrum.
Assuming both of these cars were otherwise identical in options and price, which would you choose and why? This is NOT to start any kind of flame war, I'm just curious.
A) A stock manual MCS.
B) An MCSa, but it comes with JCW tuning kit, JCW suspension, JCW strut brace.
Thanks!
Jon
