General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
Installed Union Jack scuttles, swapped (lousy) stock oil dipstick with a Craven one, and just got a couple more GoBadges in the mail today. The scuttles are VERY cool.
Tried to trade it in for a GP2, but the negative equity on it right now was too high to pull the trigger. Oh well, perhaps it's for the better since I really do need the backseat to tow around the kids when the wifey is at work lol
Installed the interior LEDS...which was actually a lil bit more difficult than I expected. And think I screwed something up in the driver side dome light cause now the bulb wont even stay in and just drops out.
Put some tire dressing on the tires... cleaned off the doors and trim. Only for them to be dirty again in 30 mins.
Fixed a couple of clear coat blemishes with Scratch X 2.0 (good stuff!), cleaned up the front face and wind shield thoroughly just to get them covered with bug guts in Woodside. 1st time spirited ride with the R108 rim + Hankook V12 combo, and so far I am loving it.
over the weekend, i made a "mini cubby" (pun intended ).
it holds some car bits, like umbrella, air compressor, tire repair kit, air freshener, a little closet dehumidifier deal, and some basic tools. fits nicely just behind the driver seat.
made it with black foam-core and some foam bits from a pelican case
also used my wheel ramps over the weekend. someone on NAM had suggested i used 2x4s to let me use my actual wheel ramps, so i made some! Thanks!
today i plan to finish my my 1200miles of breakin miles at 1154 right now and got my post breakin oil changed scheduled up for thursday.. let the WOOT begin!! hehe..
can hear my exhaust note deepening too.. its like my coupe is going through puberty.. hehhe..
Narrowly avoided being run over by some #$@(&(*& moron in a 26' rented box truck when he changed lanes into me without signalling or checking his right-side mirror first.
The aforementioned #$@(&(*& moron got to hear my horn repeatedly and was given the one-finger salute through the sunroof shortly thereafter....
The rest of the morning commute was uneventful and pleasant.
The clear coat on my hood scoop was chipped and pealing so I decided something needed to be done. Eventually I will be getting a new chrome hood scoop...but until I get some extra cash the wife will let me spend, I decided to just go ahead and paint it flat black. Not too sure how I feel about it. What do you guys think?

That's how it starts. Next you'll de chrome the grill to match, then Joey mod the headlight and next thing you know you'll paint everything black...
hurry and paint it back to blue or go chrome before you get bitten by the de-chrome bug. Just kidding, it looks great!
Got to love people who rent big trucks to move, when they are clearly incapable of driving anything bigger than a Smart car.
I had an older gentleman in a Smart car wave at me very energetically as I pulled out of my driveway the other day. I suppose he thought we were in the 'small car club' or something.
