Does complaining about your dealer help?

I've had bad experiences with my dealership..
it's the only one in the country so we're stuck with them

after flashing my ecu, the car was a dog.. and had some cold hesitations and such

so I took it back.. for them to check..

to my suprise they're "policy has changed" and they no longer give courtesy cars to jobs that take less than 4 days (they had my car for 7 days and i still didn't get a car)

anyway.. so I get the car back..

they say they can't rollback software updates it's a 1 way street
they drove my car for 40 miles HARD (fuel consumption was way up)
and didn't fix the other problems I complained about..
and they claimed the 40 miles was for "testing".. my butt

anyway.. my issue is..

I know they can't roll back my ECU, so i've been considering the JCW tuning kit..

except it's about 2.5x the price from my dealer, then it is from the US or the UK.. $1,600 vs $3,700

so I was going to ship it in from the UK..

but my dealer also refuses to install parts that are not purchased from them..

I can do the intake and exhaust myself.. but I need them to install the JCW software on the car..

do you think complaining to the regional HQ would do anything?

or is each dealer free to set whatever price they want on their products?

isn't there some sort of standardization for pricing? it's all coming from the same place after all...

would I be wasting my breath? or should I push?

What about contacting MINIUSA? Sometimes they can be helpful. I understand what it's like to be locked into bad dealership. It's so frustrating and they know you can't go anywhere else.

Best of luck.

I don't think he's in the USA....

In what part of the world are you, Ottoman FD3S?

You say this is the only dealer in the country, is it the only MINI dealer, could there be a BMW dealer that could help you? Is there a dealer in a neighboring country near enough that you could go there?

If you're not getting anywhere with the service manager, ask to speak to the owner or general manager?

As to pricing on accessories, there's nothing you can do about that, MINI AG sells it to the dealer, what they sell it for is really up to them, but you can complain to MINI AG about the price gouging - at the risk of not having anywhere to get your car worked on....

Sorry I live in the middle east at the moment.. on a small island called Bahrain..

the entire country only has a population of about 1million.. spread across 8x28 miles

so the market can't support more than 1 dealer of each brand really..

this dealer is the same for (BMW, Range rover, Mini, Ferrari, maserati, Rolls Royce) all under 1 roof..

I actually considered trading in my mini for a JCW one instead since it would cost me less then modding mine with the JCW aerokit and tuning kit etc...

*sigh*

looks like i'm stuck
