Well... Goodbye MINI!
Well... Goodbye MINI!
Hi,
After owning a MINI Cooper S for almost 7 years (which served me very well!), I decided to sell it and finally get a N54 powered car. At first, I was looking at a 135i but then I moved from Miami to Montreal and realized that a 335xi would be more logical to face snowstorms and bumpy roads.
My little MINI had the following mods:
Engine :
- Helix Minisports 19% reduction supercharger pulley (19psi boost)
- 2005 MINI Cooper S transmission (with close gear ratio)
- MINI GKN Driveline Super LSD (limited-slip differential)
- Lucky Dog Garage ECU (GIAC software dyno-tuned)
- Forge Motorsport intercooler
- MinSpeed catback exhaust system
- GRS Motorsport intercooler air diverter
- John Cooper Works 380cc injectors
- Alta 255LPH fuel pump
- Alta cold air intake (with thermal wrap)
- Alta cold air intake box cover (with thermal wrap)
- Alta oil catch can
- Forge Motorsport silicone intake hose
- Helix engine damper
- Screamin' Demon 40k volts coil pack
- Crane Cams FireWire 8.5mm plug wires
- NGK BKR8EIX spark plugs
- DetroitTuned Ryephix supercharger bypass valve (with stiffer boost return spring)
- AutoExprs intercooler silicone boots
- Motul Gear-300 transmission fluid
- Goodyear Gatorback Poly-V supercharger belt
- Motul 8100 X-Cess engine lubricant
Suspension/Brake/wheels :
- H&R Sport lowering springs (1.2" front & 1.3" rear)
- MINI-Mania Ultrik fully adjustable rear swaybar
- MINI-Mania Ultrik adjustable swaybar droplinks
- DetroitTuned Big Brake Kit (4-piston calipers, 13" rotors)
- Ferodo 2500 brake pads (front & rear)
- StopTech stainless steel brake lines
- EBC blind drilled/slotted discs (rear)

- ATE Super Blue Race brake fluid
- 18" RacingHart C3(custom paint & machined)
- Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 (225-35-18)
Inside/Outside :
- MINI Aero kit front bumper
- Color-coded door handles, gas door, headlight rings & mirror covers
- OutMotoring black-out beltline kit
- Lamin-X gunsmoke headlights, turn signals & fog lights films
- MINI Lapis blue leather shifter & handbrake boots
- Whalen shifter **** (custom design)
- MINI european driver parcel tray
- MINI Aero kit front grills (upper & lower grills)
- MINI european red & white rear lights
- MINI bonnet stripes
- Brake/Rear fog lights mod
- Stealth windows tinting
- Lamin-X smoked fenders reflectors
- MINI 2005 center console
- MINI OEM 2005 armrest
- GBMINI auto-up windows circuit

Factory Options
- Sport Package (fog lights, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), SS+ Sport suspension)
- Luxury Package (Automatic climate control, Heated seats, Multi-function steering wheel, Cruise control)
- Lapis Blue leather seats & floor mats
- Metallic paint
A few pics:

On its last dyno run, it showed 237hp and 204ft/lb which wasn't bad for its size and mods...
On January 15th, I took delivery of my 2010 335xi with the following options:
- Metallic paint
- Steptronic AT
- Navigation
- M package
And I did the following mods so far:
- Matte black kidney grills
- Bimmian bumper reflectors delete kit
- Black "335xi" badge and I removed the X-Drive side badges
- BurgerMotorsports JuiceBox+ ECU remap
- BurgerMotorsport Dual Cone Intake
A few pics of my new toy:

A week exactly after I got it (stupid speed trap lol):

So far, I love it!! It has plenty of power with simple bolt-on mods (with an ECU remap and an intake, it has roughly 380hp & 390ft/lb), comfortable, roomier than my little MINI (duh!) and more luxurious. On the downside, it lacks the MINI's "go-kart" feeling that makes it so fun to drive!
After owning it for almost 7 years (and close to 200K km), I must admit it was a very fun adventure and I'll always remember the time spent behind the steering wheel!! I won't forget this great community (NAM!) and the good times with its members!
Keep up the MINI spirit!!

Love the BMW. Why did you decide to rebadge it to a 335xi and not just get 335i on the back like how it came? Was it because you removed the xdrive ones from the side and you wanted to keep the AWD designation like from the sedans just before the LCI facelift?
My brother has a red 330i and he just got black badges too. I love them, looks great even on a black car. Also, did the same with you as the grille, but he has a black surround and chrome inserts.
Your car is what I consider getting after my MINI

I'll be sure to keep in touch with the MINI community and will keep visiting NAM often, even though I didn't post much lately...
your mini was gorgeous... bmw looks really nice but definitely not as unique...glad you had a long run, as much as i love my mini, i know i'll probably end up with a different car someday... i hope to always have my mini for track though...

That is a nice Mini, well loved and modded!
like itsminibtch said, I'll probably have a different car someday but sad to see you sell the Mini. At least you have a new car to have fun with and start all over modding.
Enjoy your new toy!

Helix has a product line-up for the MINI's big brothers??
I'll make sure to check it out for my future purchases as Helix was one of my top tuners for my MINI!
Very nice new toy, I always loved the 3 series. I'm Canadian and love my Country.........but you left the 12 months of no snow in Miami for 5 months of snow in Montreal?.........I feel for ya man
I'm next door to Quebec, in New Brunswick. Sometime if you ever make a road trip down this way (some amazing back roads in NB, think New Hampshire) shoot me a pm and I'll buy you a beer
