I disagree. The Bible quote (there's only one, actually) in the Christian thread says nothing about the validity of other worldviews.

It's Matthew 10:27-28 I believe:
"What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight. What is whispered in your ear, shout from the rooftops. Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but can't kill the soul."

Some of the quotes listed (and subsequently removed) on this thread, while awesome, outright attacked other belief systems.

throughthedoors,

+1 to your post above. I was getting ready to post essentially the same thing. I've been following both threads and have found them both to be interesting. The Christian thread had a couple posts pulled as well, but I no longer remember what that was for. In this thread, iirc, it was the posts with Heinlein quotes (but may have been others) and my impression agreed with yours. I didn't have any problem with the posts myself, but I can see where the mods were coming from.

Since I gather both threads are treading into some new territory for NAM and the subjects are fraught with potential pitfalls from a community building standpoint, it might take a little bit of time for everyone to get a feel for what is ok and what is not.

As mentioned in the posts above, the quotes you referred to specifically derided religion and those who chose to practice it. All of us should know by now what is acceptable on NAM and what is not, and attacks on people--including their belief systems--are not allowed. The Moderating team discusses both of these threads regularly and we are trying to balance user preferences with our obligations to site guidelines and maintaining this environment.

As has been mentioned, the Christian thread gets the same observation and treatment as this one does. Please abide by the requests presented by the Moderators in order to keep this thread alive and healthy. Thank you.

I like the sun, it stays in my entry. Dawn of time/enlightenment.

The "Mini is my religion" means an atheist would have a religion. Loses it's meaning.
I think that design was an original by Gromit, so if he says you can use it...

Only 7 pages in and we need a lawyer...why can't we have our 'solar eclipse' version?

Please tell me you are joking?

If you check post #37 on this thread then I technically could make the claim that you got the idea from me to just use the three bodies with the car. I posted that long before you showed up here and moreover the idea to use the evolution and the cars came before post #37 as well. You didn't contribute your version of our ideas until much later. All you added to the idea of the badge was the sun burst. So who owns what exactly? Your design is based on ideas you can't claim exclusive intellectual property rights to. The designs were created on a forum where several people (you as well) contributed concepts and ideas and "your design" is a product of all of those ideas so...

Honestly, I don't care who contributed what (and I am glad that you contributed as others have) but when you get on your high horse and start insinuating possible legal action over something that was supposed to be fun, then it makes me want to withdraw my involvement.

All that said, I love "your" design. Your attitude however, not so much.

I'm sorry. Did you draw those elements? I thought you pieced it together from things you found on the web. The evolution sequence is very common on the web.

I sense a flame war coming. Please no!

The way I see it, if Gromit doesn't want a modified version of his design that's cool. However, he doesn't hold property rights on the concept, so if anyone else wants to make a mock-up from scratch there's nothing wrong with that. I'd offer to try but it's Friday and any attempts I'd try to make might turn out a bit...let's say sloppy

Actually, you may get some heat from MINI/BMW using the phrase: "MINI Owners" as it makes specific reference to the company....

But it is being written Mini, not MINI.

It's still phrase specific to the company.

I am not a lawyer, but I do remember a very similar issue when naming this forum as well......

But you know, sometimes less is more....maybe words are not needed

This thread could use a little levity at this point, so I was thinking, if in Fact Mini is our religion, is it fair to say that J.C. is our savior

I would say that A.A.C.I. is the savior. Saint John Cooper would be a lesser deity.
