2011 redesign - Would you drive a "rainbow" MINI?
From Autoblog: http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/15/m...2011-redesign/
A good read and some interesting engine info...but the most pressing question is whether or not you'd drive a MINI with this paint:

Personally, I think this kind of paint has a first-class ticket on the hein-train (i.e. fugly). But hey, I could see someone liking it...

My wife will FLIP when she see's this! As ugly as you think it is this is exactly what she has been wanting. We mix and sell this paint at my store but it is very expensive so we couldn't justify repainting her 07 PW MCS. We just ordered a Camden for her the last week of December but when she see's this she might want to wait. I don't know if we would be able to cancel her order though. Maybe I just wont show her...
I like the engine enhancements mentioned in the OP link. It seems there's a lot of work on the turbo and cam, maybe a response to the "cold start chatter" that's been an issue for many "S" owners?
I'd also be curious if the claimed 10% efficiency improvement in the engine design translates into a higher EPA rating. 10% would put the base MINI highway rating over 40 mpg, which would be quite an achievement for a plain vanilla gas engine car.

I wouldn't buy it
cause it's too freakin expensive!
If one is willing to spend that much on paint, go to someone who does House of Colors stuff, and does real good paint, and you'll be out the door for a lot less.

Very true. We also sell House of Color and the stuff they do is very cool. Truly one of a kind in the right hands!

The article does not have exact improvement claims for each model, but the base engine does have a number of improvements. From the article, with emphasis added:
MINI Cooper
At the heart of the MINI range the largest-selling model, the MINI Cooper, also benefits from the new engine enhancements. A power hike to 122hp (+3hp) and peak torque of 160 Nm @ 4,250 rpm help the Hatch to 62 mph in 9.1 seconds and a top speed of 127 mph. Sharing all the new engine features of the Cooper S except the turbocharger, the Cooper achieves 52.3 mpg (combined cycle) and emits only 127 g/km of CO².
I'm not sure, but I love my horizon blue so that could be why. If that's American mpg then I would love to have that engine. But then again, I'm not complaining about my 30+ mpg either. I guess I'm intrigued by it more than anything else.
Nah, that's UK gallons on the EU combined cycle.
