I wonder why they didn't do this from the start. Then again, BMW is famous for band aid fixing problems with the MINI brand.

BMW (and many others) are in a bind...

everyone wants power, but the fleet MPG has to improve. So getting higher numbers from smaller engines will help with the average. I think that's why the 3.0 twin turbo has gone to a single larger turbo, a slight bump in efficiency.

For the cooper, the gains are so low that they could be related to things as simple as better programming for how the engine runs... After all, they know how to tune the engine and don't have to hack any code to do it!

This isn't anything new. MINI has offered 'flip' paint in the UK for a while now

Now THAT is somethin' I'd like 2 see, as well! I used 2 go to classic car shows back in the day, and some owners had what they called a 'flip-flop' paint job that was similar. The color combinations some of them had were very pretty, but I wondered what they did for nicks/dings, considering the cost of those paint finishes!
