Mini roadster photos from LA Auto Show

Hi all!

I just had to share these photos with you all. They're MINI roadsters from the LA Auto show, courtesy of a relative of mine who got to go. To be sure, they're just in the concept stage right now, but still. Fun!!

PS - No, sorry, I don't have any specs on the cars. Just these photos to drool over. Enjoy!

Interesting, but not enough to want to make me trade but I'm sure that they will find a market.

One member of that market right here. In 2020 I'll be ready to trade my '02 in on a roadster. This is certainly more in line with the MINI heritage that the Crossman (what an abomination).

The LA show is one of the top tier shows... I think shows get broken down into 3 tiers: international, national, and regional. You usually see all the debuts and fresh concept cars at the international shows, and then they make their way down to the national and regional shows. National shows are ok but you usually don't see anything exciting except for last year's concept cars, and regional shows are typically nothing but a bunch of local car dealers with cars straight from their lots.

The big international shows in the US are Detroit, LA, NY. Some of the other big ones are Frankfurt, Tokyo, Shanghai, Geneva... these are all the big shows where you get major new launches, huge press coverage and speeches from all the CEO's of the top automakers.

so you didn't miss much.... The Mini booth didn't have a classic Mini, didn't have a Mini-E... Had some JCW and standard product. And a Clubman with a "Woodie" vinyl wrap.

Matt

The Orlando show is an international show. I did get a MINI lanyard from the booth but, the show is up and down. Some years its awesome like when times are really good but if something as much as a car crash in the local area then all the manufacturers don't show.

thanks for sharing

slightly off topic question but does anyone know what they do with concept cars? especially ones that never actually make it to production? do they just store them forever in a giant warehouse?

Ya they normally wil go into storage, some are sold off, some end up at the company's HQ for display, or they are sent off to meseums. In some rare case they might even get destroyed.

That convertable two seater will likely be my next car so it better go into production. That is without that stupid "openometer" waste of space.
