2300 Mile Road Trip to Mt Rushmore in MCS

Went on a Road Trip over the 4th of July Weekend to Mount Rushmore in my 08 MCS. We left around 2:00 PM on Thursday and returned Sunday Evening.
I had always wanted to see Mt Rushmore and couldn't imagine a better person to go on a road trip with than my 22 year old daughter Jamie.
I am still editing days 3-5 of our video diary of the trip. But so far have day 1 and 2.
The car did great! even though we typically exceeded the speed limits somewhat, we still averaged 32 MPG.
We were hoping to see the fireworks on the Mountain on the 3rd but the clouds moved in. Still, we got to see it.
Day 2 we saw CarHenge - Kind of like Stonehenge but made of old cars.
Day 1

Day 2

So far so good. Like the video travel diary type thing although maybe you prob should put this in the travel stories section so it doesn't get lost in general talk. Waiting patiently for the rest.

Very nice. I just did ~3,400 miles over 11 days that led me to MinisOnTop and back in June. I never did factor in the final day of driving, but I was averaging a tad over 36 mpg. The MINI did great on the journey.

Can't watch the videos as I'm at work but the idea sounds like lots of fun. Sounds like you guys had a real blast. Gotta remember to take a camera the next time I'm on a road trip.

In the middle of May about 40 MINI's from the greater midwest gathered for a road trip to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Devil's Tower, Bad Lands, Carhenge. Was a super great time.

I know you are going to hate hearing this as a Dad, but your daughter is VERY pretty.

The wind farm past Salina is very cool indeed. It's the largest in the State currently but there are plans for a larger one west of there.

I really loved the movie's of your trip. I want to thank you again for sharing. It's to bad about the windshield. I hope your insurance company will fix it for you.

Thanks for you the kind words.
I ended up paying a $500 deductible for the windshield! However, I took the advice of some others on this web site and changed my comprehensive deductible to $0 if it ever happens again.
