Does your MINI attract bugs?

I’m not talking about motoring down the interstate and counting the (((<splats>))).
I’m wondering if your car has bugs just hanging out, chilling on the paint?

I know, it may sound weird, but I have never had a car that was the big bug hangout. Every day I have bugs on my car. Today was the worst…

…I get home on lunch & park in the driveway (top up & everything closed because of the rain). I go check on Butters half way through my lunch…yep, I’m that guy…and I find, since the rain stopped, a calico using my top for a hammock . I chase it off & lint roll the top before I head back in to finish my lunch, but I digress.

While I am cleaning cat hair off of Butters, I notice way more bugs on him than normal. It had just stopped raining & I counted over 20 flies and a few gnats having a great time running across my car.

Flies & gnats are not the normal bugs, but this was so many I had to take pictures.

^2 flies & a gnat above...V 10 flies in this picture below.

Normally, there might be a total of 5 different bugs, moths, bees, wasps, butterflies etc… I used to shoo them away, but that was pointless. They would just migrate to the other side. (I’m sure laughing at me under their buggy breath & saying things I’m glad I can’t hear)

I guess what I am asking is…Does the retired Liquid Yellow color attract more bugs than the other colors, or am I just the cool car to hang out on in the neighborhood? Do you always have a bug or 2 that just won’t leave the car? Maybe it’s the big, round headlights…Hmmm…

I've noticed a few bugs here and there on my BRG.

BUT I've had my car for 6 days and there's been a new splash of bird POOP every damn day. :(

LY is probably just an attractive color for bugs, since it looks like a flower.

Light colored cars seem to attract the bugs. I had a white car that every bug in New Jersey liked to land on.

FWIW,

I took a botany course and it was noted that yellow, off-white, pink & orange are quite attractive to various insects...

Now I think about it...this is the lightest color car I have owned (except a silver CRX) All others have been black, dark blue, or a deep red.

It is just an other quirk for Butters!
He makes people & bugs happy!
Evidently cats too...but I have a high pressure hose waiting for that hairy beast to return.

P.S. I don't hate cats...I have 2, but neither of mine sleep on my soft-top.

A few people have said that Lolly would attract bees, but I haven't noted it happening.

Maybe somebody used your buffing mitt to flip steaks on the barbie....

It is the color. I was told a long time ago that yellow attracts bugs. I have an antique corvette that I show. When I go to a car show that is in a field or on the grass you can walk up to a yellow car and it will have bugs all over it. The car next to it can be any color and you will not see a single bug on it.

All I know is that mine is covered in bug splatters...it sucks. Cleaning it is a lost cause too. It will just be covered again in less than a week. Come on late summer!

That's funny, because we have been grilling at home almost every day since the 4th.

*runs out to check the washing supplies for grease*

Nope...all good!

I'll get some flies hanging out on the roof probbably because it's white, but not many.

But one time when I got out of the car after I arrived to work, I noticed something crawling out from under the bonnet. It was the strangest insect I have ever seen in person. Bright blue crustacean-like thing close to 2 inches long. I wanted to stick it in a jar and show it off, but I had to run into work.

Oh and one time there was a green grasshopper stuck to my window for a 15 minute drive. It hung on!

We have noticed that especially after the rain the bugs have been all over it. Normally we get a lot of bug splats at night, but yesterday we got a ton in the day time. It was storming a lot and we must have ran into a swarm of them. We had so many hit the windshield and front of the car that we had to pull off and wash the windshield off so we could see. We noticed that while we were stopped there were also a ton of live ones still on there hovering around.Don't know what the attraction is but it is a real pain to clean them off every couple of days. Not fun at all.

Here is a pic after we got home.......sadly we had just gave him a nice shower the day before........

my MC attracts a crapload of bugs mann it BUGS. lol.
a lot get on my windshield, but i think tahts becuase MINIs have a low drag coefficient, so instead of bugs being swooshed right over the windshield, it just slams and dies and splatters on it haha.

and even non-human poop i get.
