I hate people sometimes. (pics of slight carnage)

So apparently someone thought it would be funny to throw a can of Pepsi through the back glass of my 2 month old MINI sometime late last night.

You can still see the Pepsi all over the place:

At least it looks cool on the inside:

And here's the culprit:

I can only imagine that it was done by some jerkoff that was driving past, since the rear glass was the only thing damaged and the can actually ended up in front of the car. I'm usually forced to park beside the road at my apartment complex unfortunately.

It could be worse I suppose .. nothing got inside the car except for a bit of glass, and the can doesn't appear to have scratched any painted surfaces anywhere. Tried to get my warranty to cover it, but that didn't work Oh well.. at least i only have a $100 deductible.

I guess you're just not allowed to have nice things without someone being jealous.

sorry to see. but at least they didn't get your paint or body messed up! That should be a quick, easy fix for the glass company at least. if you get involved you might have it tinted before they bring the glass instead of having to hunt down the tinter you used before.

a familar story to make you laugh...

a friend of mine who had parked at his parents house in ohio, out in the country came out to find some red plastic behind his car. upon inspection found the left rear light shattered and thought little about it besides that it was broken. he figured "something had hit it" when he was driving to indianapolis to our house he heard a rattle. after a while he pulled over and looked around more. when i got close and really inspected it he found a fake rolex inside of the light! haha so someone in ohio, on a country road threw a fake rolex out of the window and it put a hole and stayed in his light assembly.

that story always makes me laugh...it's too weird. it helps to know the guy too because he's not a car guy at all. he's that friend who simply know's the make of their car and how to drive it from a to b!

Sorry to hear about this. Boo to the person who did it.

On a lighter note, you should send those pics to Coke and see if they'll pay for the damage.

Man.. that sucks. BUT, on a better note, Glass is easier to fix. In MA, any glass would get fixed for free (State Law).

Hope your car will be back to normal soon :(

Yeah, that SUCKS.

Another Comp claim and another example of why people should carry a low deductible on their Comprehensive Coverage.

Sorry to see that man. Some people are just complete morons.

Be thankful you only have a $100 insurance deductible. I have USAA insurance and there is no special glass coverage, so I had my standard $500 deductible apply when my ex-gf punched out my rear windshield; out of pocket, it cost me $400 for the glass and $80 for the tint.

Hey, t0ad - did you call the police and make sure they did a report? If they have enough incidents like this, and eventually catch the perp, you might be able to get in on a lawsuit (get money?) later... It might not be of much help to YOU, but maybe somebody else later with the same issue who couldn't afford to get it fixed. Just a thought.

t0ad-- I want you to know I didn't view this post just to say: "Gosh that's too bad... sorry about your luck" or give myself a thrill at seeing that something bad has happened to someone else. I actually sometimes don't even check these types of posts for that very reason... it's is much like accidents on the side of the freeway-- ppl want to slow down, look, say: "Oh my God..." then get on with their lives.

I like to think I am a little different.

Let me tell you something. I am sincerely sorry that this has happened to you. It is not right, and I am sure it is consuming your thoughts and caused you a great deal of anxiety already.

I live in fear of my cars being vandalized. I always buy new cars (I love having a warranty) and although my cars are new-- they are not luxurious by any means, but they are always nicer than someone elses car. Jealousy is horrible.

When crappy things like that happen to me what I usally say to myself is something like: "Wow. I'm happy they took it out on my window and not the body of the car..." or "At least they didn't go home and hurt one of their children or their spouse or something..."

Near where I live some teens threw a beer bottle at an Amish girl from their truck when she was walking down the road with her mother. It hit her in the face and exploded on impact with such force that she is blind in one eye now, and has had to have several reconstructive surgeries.

I wish they threw it at my car instead of her face.

Oh, just a follow up post... I have had someone climb on the hood of one of my cars and defecate on it. I've been egged twice, and one night I saw a teenager urinate all over my door handle for some reason. I shouted to him from my appartment window: "If your ____ was bigger you might be able to reach the roof jack*ss!"

Yah... I kinda hate ppl too sometimes.

It almost makes you wish we lived in the UK. With the CCTV cameras they have there you might have a shot at catching the little buster - I mean, it had to be a kid riding along with his buddies and showing-off.

I am so glad that the wife encouraged me to buy a home with a garage even though at the time it seemed like an exorbitant expense. My MINIs especially wish to thank her.

And, like Carlisle, I too am a guy that prefers to have a car under warranty even though it means I'm continually making car payments. Knowing that things will be fixed by the dealer gives me peace of mind. I've often felt that sitting in the waiting room of an auto repair shop is much more stressful for me than awaiting results of medical tests. You never know whether you're gonna just be paying for a $15 state inspection or for $1500 worth of brak repairs when you own an out of warranty vehicle. The drawback is, again like Carlisle said, the fact that jealous people get some sort of delight in ruining your new car. Not just jerks keying the side of your car, but dopes who let shopping carts go flying across the parking lot into someone else's car, parents with no control over their kids allowing them to run their greasy little mitts all over someone else's pride and joy or just plain ignorant nitwits who swing open the door of their 1995 Nissan Sentra into the side of someone else's brand new wheels..........

....Wow. I amaze myself with how angry this all makes me.

Seems you got off cheap. How so? A small price to pay to find out to cut it off with that violent POS person. Sometimes such tendencies don't show until well into a relationship.

Better that window than you entire pad.

Hope you changed your locks if she had a key.

Ditto on the morons...makes you wonder what sort of primitive level their minds must be operating on.

The USAA reference confuses me...I've had USAA coverage for 30 years with $50 deductible Comprehensive coverage. I've never had to pay more than that amount for any auto glass work (though all of my claims over the years have been for windshields--maybe there's a difference).

Wow cooper99, that's awful! I guess in a way I'm fortunate that they hit the corner of the glass and the can bounced away instead of going straight through the center. If I had left the house to head to work only to be greeted by a cola-covered mess of an interior, I probably would've cried

Carlisle, I appreciate the kind words. I've managed to calm down now, but this morning when I got in the car and saw the damage in my rear view mirror, I'm surprised I didn't blow the rest of the glass out with my cursing

x uh oh x, I thought about calling the police, but I figure I'd just be wasting their time to be honest. Nothing short of dusting the can for prints could help my situation, and I doubt they'd be nice enough to do that for me! Oh well.. such is life. I've got the back hatch covered with a trash bag and won't be driving it around until it's fixed. Kinda depressing to look at a $28k car with a trashbag on it though.

Wow. People can really be unkind. Some of the stories here are shocking.

When I bought my MINI I took a drive over to my insurance agent's office to make some changes to my policy. As we were discussing deductibles my agent said to me:

"MINI's are cool cars (he's a big BMW guy) and there are a lot of idiots out there that take pleasure in vandalizing cool cars. Are you aware that dropping your deductible from $500 to $100 would cost you less than $20 every 6 months? It would suck to have someone damage your car and it would add insult to injury to have to pay out $500."

I took his advice.

Wow that just sucks, that shouldn't happen to a BRG car, another color and I wouldn't quite as upset.

On a lighter note I have a feeling it was possibly Starscream or another one of the Decepticons.
