Help me name my MINI
Help me name my MINI
I have had my blue MINI for a week. My wife came up with the name for her clubman before she(the MINI) was even off the boat "Salt N' Pepa" you will see it perfect for her car (as well as us)

I have come up with "Buddy Lee" the MINI of action remember the lee jeans adds, "Blue Thunder" remember the 80's movie?, "Xenon" the blue head lights, a friend suggested "Mr. Belvedere" since he thought my car look like a classy brit. NAM what say you?

Yeah, naming a car is a pretty personal thing. For our MINI, "Oliver" just seemed to fit. Also a tribute to a special little Opel Kadet...
But maybe you'll see something you like. Do you see it as more of a "guy" car or a "girl" car? How about Levi?

Your car will name itself. It will tell you its name in due time. However, if you name it something it doesnt like, it will tell you that as well. Mine shocked me for a long time. One day...you will know.
Wow! Wonderful pictures, you make a great couple. Welcome to NAM-land. The blue on your cool ride reminds me of the blue ice we get on the lakes here in Madison during the winter. I'm thinking along the lines of Blue Ice Buddy, IceMan, Blue Thunder; but hey Buddy Lee works too. I agree with Aggie, you & your car will agree on a name after you've spent a few hours together...Keep smiling.
Another vote for Mr. Belvedere, but like someone else mentioned, your MINI should reveal its name to you, maybe you just gotta spend more time out motoring with it

I have been saying what should I call him the whole time and looking at the car I don't see my self calling it a she so I am pretty sure it's a he.
Ok, just checking! I owned mine for over a year and he waited until just this past Christmas to let me know what gender. What's really really wild - and what all these posters are referring to - is that the name will just come to you one day. It'll pop into your head and you can't get it out, even if it's a name you don't really like. I mean, "Mints???" Who has a name like that?? Oh, wait...that would be the name MY car decided upon finally... Again, you have a GORGEOUS car. I think I'll add one of that color to my "fantasy collection."

I like just plain "Belvedere"... I can hear in my mind, "OH BELvedere!" (British Accent). Maybe call him "Mr. Belvedere" when he's been naughty. Oh wait... usually a middle name would be used for that!
(Well now I've got Bell-Biv-DeVoe in my head
... POISON- "Now you know"... lots of stuff running around up there!
) And now I will corrupt a thread with a little something from back in tha day!
"Buddy Lee" is a nice concept too... the whole "jeans" color thing... but I would probably just call it "Bud"... like "BUHD" from the Cosby show. "Bud Lee" is working for me too... kind of like "Bruce Lee"... an underestimated crazy little powerhouse... but the color of jeans!
As many have said though... it will come to you.
Hi UhOh... I'll talk to you over in Freebie Land.

Nice shots.. How about Blue-sky...Always wanting good weather and blue skys... Like how your Euro-plate is place evenly between the front section..Did you do that or the garage? Is it screwed into the front?Or is there a plate holder attachment..?
I gave the plate to my MA to put it on before I picked up the car so it was done at the dealer. Its screwed into the bumper.
My suggestion is this:
Go for a motor with your favorite music... a good long motor. Plan to be gone for about an hour, by yourself, just getting to know your baby (wonderful shots by the way and I love the blue... just gorgeous)... and at some point it will come to you.
I was just telling X earlier today about how my car's name came to me when I was driving her home from the dealership. I had never named a car before... hadn't really considered naming the MINI all that much, but I did wonder if she would "speak" to me as so many other folks on this board have said their MINIs have done with them so I was paying attention as I was getting a feel for the car.
I was driving along I-90... blowing past my husband on the freeway in his Honda, listening to Thom Yorke sing Paranoid Android in his haunting tones... when an unfortunate bird clipped my windshield. There was red all over and as I hit the lever to clear the windscreen, feeling sorry for the poor bird who had almost certainly died... this line from Shakespeare in Love popped into my head, "And her name, was Viola." and as I remembered Twelfth Night and how much I'd loved it and was driving along, not really thinking too much on it... it occurred to me that she'd just told me what her name was.
It was a really cool feeling.
