Im currently faced with a 12 month business trip and will not be able to bring the Mini-Jet along. In facing the fact that I'll have to put the vehicle in storage; I thought I'd ask around and see if anyone had any horror stories to tell or good advice for that matter. Feel free to drop your 2 cents here.

 

The longest my car's been in storage was 3 months. I took no special prep work for it. When I got back from Tokyo, it started right up and was fine. I'm not sure what to do for a longer storage period.

Do you have any good friends who could start the car up and maybe drive it around the block every few weeks while you're away?

 

That person is right.
The best thing you can do is find somebody you
really trust, like say, your sister assuming you have
one, and give thorough and exact instructions
on how to take care of it.

Like have her drive it once per week to work or
even a couple times for errands.

I dont recommend cancelling your plates or insurance and such
and putting it in a storage locker. Funny things happen with
The Man when you have a break in coverage particuarly in the
age of ripping off the consumer. (oh, i see you are new to the
country. We have to give you the 16 year old driver rate)
