Idiots in trucks
Wasn't me ... saw it on the internet. I just thought it was funny that everyone assumes because our cars are so small, they must be unsafe. I've actually had people ask me if I feel safe on the highway
. I feel safer in this car than I have many of the other sports cars I've owned ... mostly American muscle. These cars are not only built solid, their ability to avoid accidents because of their nimbleness is amazing.
YMMV
As an owner of a MINI and a big truck (Chevy 2500HD needed to pull my Airstream) this thread caught my interest. I can honestly say that I only drive aggressively or spiritedly in the MINI as I know she can handle it. While I like my truck for it's "car like handling" it certainly does not have MINI like handling.
I know the type, I had one run into me on purpose (cutting me off at an exit off the highway, he managed to t-bone me, think about how that is even possible), thankfully several fellow good samaritans phoned ahead to the police as witnesses to the event. the guy got the book thrown at him, oh and he was a short guy which was hilarious because I'm remember thinking he would be.
Unfortunately, idiocy is not confined along any demographic lines. Let's be honest: There are probably also idiots who drive Minis.
There are rational (or "rationalized") decisions for buying/driving almost anything (though I'm still wondering about the H2 pickup). Driving anything WELL, however, requires some thought & common sense.
Reference Voltaire (summarizing): "The problem with Common Sense is that it isn't so common.".
