Rolex 24 hours of Daytona

I picked up my credentials at the speedway Tuesday for the Rolex 24 hour race. I'm a guest of Gothem Competition out of Ormond Beach, Florida. They run Porsche #26 and the drivers will be:
Gerardo Bonilla
Jerome Jacalone
Joe Jacalone
Shane Lewis
Randy Pobst
I'm really going to enjoy the Koni Challenge on Friday as there are some Mini Coopers entered. It starts at 1:45pm Friday for three hours Max or two hundred miles. Whatever comes up first.
The Rolex starts 3:30pm on Saturday until 3:30pm Sunday.
I sure hope we have good weather this year and it warms up a little.

That sounds like a lot of fun. I've been to Daytona for the 500 a number of times, and it's terrific (especially if you can get into the pits, and some of the hospitality tents. What a total blast!).

Congrats, and have a great time!

P.S. What's the weather supposed to be like? Sunny and 73? Only Floridians could wish for something nicer than that in February.

Very cool! Have you met Randy Pobst before? I've had the opportunity to talk with him a couple times at Mid-Ohio and he is a genuinely nice guy.

Congrats. There is no better place to be than Daytona during Speedweeks. My father and I have been going down to the 500 since 1984. We attended the Rolex 24 one year and it was an absolute blast!! This year's 500 is extra special because my son is joining grandpa and I for the first time. This has turned out to be a real family tradition. While the racing has been good through the years, the time spent with family is priceless.

Through the years we have found our way down to Daytona in many ways. This year grandpa is flying from CT, my son and are driving from OH .......... in the Mini of course. I have installed a trailer hitch and a rear cargo box.

I have gone to the Rolex the past 4 years, it was always a great time; grilling on the infield, 30 ft away from the track. Also provides great car spotting opportunities. I always liked wandering the Porsche Car Club area.

Best of all; I was a student so $10 got me access to drive my car to the infield. One year I splurged and got the pit passes, that was really cool.

The Rolex 24 will be one of the only things I will miss about Daytona(the 500 made me want to kill myself, but the flyover was cool)

Have a great time, I will be watching and wishing I was there.
